At the 2025 Bharat Mobility Expo, Hero MotoCorp launched its new flagship scooter, the all-new Xoom 160. Launched at Rs 1,48,500 (ex-showroom, India), the Xoom 160 will be exclusively available at Hero MotoCorps Premia dealerships. Bookings for the Hero Xoom 160 will start in February 2025, while its deliveries will commence in March 2025. Hero Xoom 160 Design And Features: Authentic Maxi-Scooter Looks And Stance
The Xoom 160 was showcased previously on multiple occasions, including the most recent one at EICMA 2024. Compared to that particular version, there are no changes to the overall styling, with the Xoom 160 having the same tall and lean stance with premium maxi-scooter-inspired looks. The Xoom 160 will be available in four colour choices Matte Rainforest Green, Summit White, Canyon Red and Matte Volcanic Grey.
The front profile of the new Xoom 160 has apron-mounted dual-chamber LED headlamps with LED position lamps, while at the back, it has a compact LED tail light. Like most global maxi-scooters, the new Xoom 160 also has a split floorboard, a tall front windscreen and 14-inch wheels with block pattern tyres. Other noteworthy features of the Xoom 160 are a full-LCD instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity, clear lens turn indicators and turn-by-turn navigation, and a smart key with a remote seat opening.
Engine And Performance: Heros First Liquid-Cooled Engine For Scooters
Besides its maxi-scooter-inspired styling, the new Xoom 160 debuts Hero MotoCorps first liquid-cooled engine for a scooter. This new four-stroke, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, 156cc engine, paired with a CVT, claims 14.6 PS @ 8,000 rpm and 14 Nm @ 6,500 rpm. These figures also make the Xoom 160 the most powerful scooter from Hero MotoCorp. Like most other engines from Hero MotoCorp, this engine also features Heros i3S (idle start-stop) technology with a silent start.
Suspension And Brakes: Unique Hardware For Scooters
The new Xoom 160 is Hero MotoCorps first scooter that rides on 14-inch wheels at both ends. These wheels come equipped with 120/70-14 front and 140/60-14 rear block pattern tyres another first for a Hero MotoCorp scooter.
With a telescopic fork at the front and dual shock absorbers at the rear, the Xoom 160 also comes equipped with a disc brake at the front and a drum brake at the rear. The new Xoom 160 also has a seat height of 787mm and a large 7-litre fuel tank.
Verdict
Compared to the other mass-oriented scooters from Hero MotoCorp, the new Xoom 160 follows a radical approach with its tall and premium maxi-scooter-inspired design and unique hardware. The only other scooter in the of Xoom 160 is the very popular and sporty Yamaha Aerox 155.
