Honda CB500X
Honda CB500X couldn't perform much in the sales department due to the hefty price tag it came along with. A reliable, proven, and well-put product from Honda is due for an update and this might have resulted in the current price.
CB500X Engine & Specifications
Powering the adventure-tourer from Honda is a reliable 471.3cc, parallel-twin engine with a bore of 67mm and stroke of 66.8mm. This results in decent peak power of 47.5 PS @ 8500 rpm while the peak torque stands at 43.2 Nm @ 6500 rpm.
This power is used via a slip and assist 6-speed constant mesh gearbox which is further connected to the rear while via a chain drive system. Larger rear-sprocket results in a better linear torque curve and linear power delivery as well.
Honda has used a single disc brake at the front while a smaller single disc brake at the rear for braking duties. Also, the front suspension is a long travel telescopic fork and the rear suspension is a single mono-shock.
Honda offers the CB500X with features such as an LCD screen with digital tachometer, MID, phone connectivity, LED headlights, and LED taillights.
CB500X Price
When launched back in 2021, Honda priced the CB500X a tad bit higher than their only rival Benelli TRK 502. The launch price was Rs 6.88 Lakhs. But the recent slash of a whopping Rs 1.07 Lakhs has led to the new ex-showroom price of Rs 5.8 Lakhs for the CB500X. Honda sells the CB500X via their Big Wing Honda showrooms pan India.
At this price and Honda's unmatchable reliability and after-sales experience makes the CB500X more desirable than ever.
Benelli TRK 502
The Italian motorcycle manufacturer Benelli has been known for its value for money tag since it entered the Indian market. Offering the cheapest in-line 4-cylinder motorcycles, Benelli has constructed a name for itself. One of their offerings in the 500cc segment; and the only competitor to the Honda CB500X is the TRK 502.
TRK 502 Engine & Specifications
Benelli TRK 502 is powered by a 500c, 2-cylinder engine which uses a 69mm bore and 66.8mm stroke producing a peak power of 47.5 PS @ 8500 rpm and a peak torque of 46 Nm @ 6000 rpm. This power is mated down via a 6-speed constant-mesh gearbox which uses a slip and assist clutch. The chain drive system helps this adventure tourer to deliver power to the rear wheels.
Benelli uses a dual-disc brake setup at the front end of the TRK502 whilst the rear brake setup is a single disc. On the suspension front, TRK 502 uses USD long-travel forks to tackle the bad roads while at the rear a single mono-shock is used.
On the feature front, TRK 502 lags behind the CB500X as it misses out on the complete LCD display, LED headlights, and LED taillights as well.
TRK 502 Price
Benelli has priced the TRK 502 adventure tourer between Rs 4.99-5.55 Lakhs. The attractive price tag and the old price of the Honda CB500X have resulted in good sales of the TRK 502.
While the price is mouth-watering, Benelli's after-sales is either a hit or a miss which has kept off the potential buyers from buying the TRK 502 to an extent.
