Honda CG160 Patented: What To Expect

Honda CG 160, a staple in Brazil's motorcycle market, boasts a near half-century of history and remains a top seller. Now in its ninth iteration, it's been a go-to commuter for Brazilians since 2015, with Honda offering a range of versions to fit different needs. You'll find the Start, Fan, Titan, and Cargo models, all running the same 160cc engine, but with varying price points and features. There's been some chatter about its design patents, with a few folks noticing a slight nod to the old CB Unicorn Dazzler, but that's more about the patents themselves, which appear to be for an older generation. The current Brazilian model has a distinct and a more modern look. Meanwhile, the single-piece seat and split grab rails give it a touch of sporty styling.

Now let's talk about how this bike is put together. Up front, it gets a standard telescopic fork, and in the back, gets a classic dual shock absorbers. For stopping power, a 240mm disc brake up front, and a 130mm drum in the rear, with CBS to help balance things out while it rolls on 18-inch alloy wheels, and thankfully, you also get tubeless tyres on both ends. This model keeps its rider informed with a straightforward LCD instrument console, displaying speed, mileage, fuel level, and other essential data. For charging devices on the go, it includes a USB-Type C port, though it doesn't offer smartphone connectivity.

Engine Details
The Honda CG 160 runs on a 162.7cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine that delivers 14.4 bhp and 13.8 Nm of torque, paired with a 5-speed transmission. Notably, it's designed to run on ethanol fuel, which apparently gives it a little extra pep.
Now, as for it's launch, Honda has not revealed any info about its potential launch in the country. On top of this, they are known to get their international models patented in India and the launch taking place much much later.
Verdict
Honda's CG160 has a pretty good name in the Brazilian market where it has a legacy of around 5 decades. The patent alone does not signifies a launch in the near future, as we have witnessed in the past also. On top of this, the brand sells the SP160 and the Unicorn in the same segment. So, another launch in the same displacement seems unlikely in the near future, but since there is no information available, let's see if the brand is planning something new in near future with this motorcycle.
