Expanding its portfolio of 160cc commuters, Honda India has launched the Honda SP160 with a price range of Rs 1,17,500 to Rs 1,21,900. The SP160 finds its place between Honda's Unicorn and XBlade models in terms of both cost and design. It comes with a more aggressive yet balanced styling to position itself for a wider set of audience.

1. Honda SP160: Styling
The SP 160 represents an enhanced iteration of the SP 125, boasting a more potent engine. Its design closely mirrors that of the SP 125, including matching body panels, a V-shaped LED headlamp, a slightly wider fuel tank, a side-mounted exhaust with a chrome cover, and blacked-out elements. The design cues evoke a sense of familiarity with the SP 125, which is favorable as the latter is already an aesthetically pleasing model.
2. Engine
The SP 160 shares its mechanical foundation with the Honda Unicorn. Propelled by an air-cooled 162cc single-cylinder engine, the SP 160 generates identical output figures of 13.5hp and 14.6Nm as the Unicorn. Notably, this powertrain is also utilized in the XBlade, albeit with a slight enhancement in power and torque for the latter.

3. Features
Furthermore, the Honda SP 160 is well-equipped with fundamental features. It boasts a fully-digital LCD instrument console providing information like speed, odometer, fuel gauge, and gear position. It also offers user-friendly features such as an engine start/stop switch and a hazard switch, along with LED head and tail lamps, contributing to a more enhanced riding experience.
4. Hardware
Honda SP160 employs a diamond-type frame of the Unicorm, telescopic forks at the front, and a mono-shock setup at the rear for suspension. Braking responsibilities are managed by a 276mm front disc and a 220mm rear disc, complemented by a single-channel ABS system. The base model incorporates a 130mm drum brake for the rear along with 17-inch alloy wheels.
5. Honda SP160: Price And Rivals
The Single disc version at Rs 1.18 lakh features a 130mm rear drum brake. On the other hand, the Deluxe variant at Rs 1.22 lakh is equipped with a 220mm rear disc. Meanwhile, it rivals the likes of Yamaha FZ, Suzuki Gixxer, and TVS Apache RTR 160 4V.

Honda SP160 is the third induction in the 160cc segment from Honda in its portfolio.
