  • Slated for launch in Q1 of 2025; Expected claimed range of 500 km

2024 Hyundai Creta facelift ever since it launched has the customers hooked to its mass-appealing design that exudes elegance while offering a ton of modern features. However, the focus has been shifted to the electrified Hyundai Creta EV that has been spotted in Hyderabad just recently, shedding light on the changes that it is gearing up to introduce over the ICE facelift model. Let's check out the details dropped from the heavily veiled test mule, but before moving ahead, make sure you are a part of our 91Wheels Whatsapp Channel, specifically curated for all the avid petrolheads to never miss out on any automotive updates.

Hyundai Creta EV: Tweaked For Better Aerodynamics

Spotted testing on Hyderabad roads, the Hyundai Creta EV was heavily veiled, but not without dropping obvious hints of its lineage with the silhouette and the LED DRLs cutout. While it is largely the same as the ICE facelift model, you can clearly notice its electric nature through the aero-cut alloy wheel design aimed at reducing air drag, ultimately adding to the real-world driving range. Additionally, it gets a front-mounted centrally placed charging port for more convenient access. This is something more and more car makers should adopt, in place of a side placement, which has to be aligned with the port and creates an additional task. While this may not be a big deal for some people, I definitely fancy a centrally front-mounted port.

Not only this, but the tyres are also expected to be specifically sourced for the EVs that not only enhance the range but also produces lesser noise, maximizing the silent cabin space, a characteristic trait of electric movers. On top of this, the rear and side profiles are similar to what we have already seen with the ICE version and this too will come with a connected LED bar for the tail lamp housing.

Although interiors were not papped during this encounter, you can see the camo sheets on the dashboard which is expected to carry the same set-up as the petrol or diesel models, but with some high-end features from other premium Hyundai EVs. Expected features for the upcoming Creta EV include a distinctive 4-dot steering wheel, a dual-screen setup for the infotainment and instrument cluster, and a voice-enabled panoramic sunroof. The vehicle is also anticipated to have front-ventilated seats for added comfort. Furthermore, the Creta EV is likely to incorporate ADAS technology, as indicated by earlier spy shots showing a radar module mounted on the bumper. Also, it could offer a V2L facility as well, but we would have to wait for this one to be sure.

Battery And Range

Creta EV

The forthcoming Hyundai Creta EV is poised to make a substantial impact in the electric vehicle segment, offering a diverse array of variants. A base model equipped with a 45 kWh battery is projected to deliver a range of up to 300 km, while a more ambitious long-range variant is rumored to feature a sizeable 55-60 kWh battery capable of extending the range to approximately 500 km on a single chargeeffectively addressing concerns related to range anxiety. Moreover, this debut mass-market EV for Hyundai in India will incorporate the electric motor from the entry-level Kona Electric, anticipated to generate an impressive 138 hp and 255 Nm of torque from its front-mounted configuration, thus promising an exhilarating driving experience that melds practicality with performance.

I think that a starting price of around Rs. 20 lakhs is where it would be best placed where it will rival other EVs like Tata Nexon EVMG ZS EVMahindra XUV400 EV, and more.

Verdict

As consumers slowly open up to adopting EVs, the Creta EVs combination of advanced features and a powerful electric motor could position it as a compelling choice in the SUV market. Its success could not only attract a broad customer base but also solidify Hyundai's leadership in innovative EV automotive space, paving the way for further advancements in the companys electric lineup in the country.
