Jeep has not only launched the updated 2024 Compass in India but also introduced another special edition of the Jeep Meridian, known as the Overland. Similar to the Meridian Upland and X models already available, the Meridian Overland boasts cosmetic differences compared to the standard model. This unique edition features subtle cosmetic enhancements both inside and outside, and it is built upon the top-spec Limited Plus variant of the three-row SUV. Pricing details for the Meridian Overland are still pending.
Let's check out what new updates this third edition of the coveted SUV brings to the table.
Jeep Meridian Overland Edition
The exterior enhancements of the Overland edition are notable, featuring a distinct star-like design update for the alloys, adding a touch of elegance to its appearance. Additionally, the grille has been subtly altered, now adorned with a refined dash of chrome. A significant aesthetic change is the replacement of the standard black body cladding with body-colored cladding, further elevating the overall look of this special edition.
While the dashboard layout remains unchanged, the interior of the Overland edition showcases distinct materials and trims. Notably, the center trim on the dashboard and the upholstery feature a luxurious suede finish. To infuse a touch of sophistication, Jeep has introduced copper inserts around the air conditioning vents and the lower central console, elevating the cabin's overall aesthetics.
Features
The Meridian's already upscale cabin is further enriched in the Overland variant, retaining a host of premium features. These include a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, digital driver's display, dual-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, powered front seats with ventilation, cruise control, automatic headlamps and wipers, and keyless entry with push-button start.
Safety remains a top priority, with the Meridian equipped with six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), front and rear parking sensors, ISOFIX child seat mounts, and a tire-pressure monitoring system, ensuring a secure and comfortable driving experience.
Mechanically Familiar
In terms of powertrain, there are no alterations, as the Meridian Overland will continue to be powered by a 2-liter diesel engine producing 170PS/350Nm of torque. This engine is mated to a choice of either a 6-speed manual or a 9-speed automatic transmission, providing consistent performance options for prospective buyers.
As far as pricing is concerned, to provide context, the Limited Plus trim is priced at Rs 35.93 lakh (ex-showroom), and it's reasonable to anticipate a premium over this price tag for the Meridian Overland edition
Verdict
The new Jeep Meridian Overland edition is a sophisticated addition to the lineup, bringing subtle yet stylish exterior enhancements, premium materials and trims in the cabin, and a wealth of upmarket features. It retains the powerful 2-liter diesel engine and a choice of manual or automatic transmissions, ensuring a well-rounded and refined driving experience.
