Kia India, the local subsidiary of the South Korean carmaker, has announced the sale of 16,331 units in October 2021. Along with this, the Kia Seltos even became the highest-selling SUV in its segment last month. In fact, the popularity of this Hyundai Creta-rival can be gauged from the fact that with a sale of 10,488 units last month, it was almost twice as popular as the Sonet, a much more affordable model that could sell only 5,443 units in the same time period. Meanwhile, the slow-selling but recently updated Carnival found 400 buyers.

The calendar year 2021 has been a period of multiple milestones for the local subsidiary of Kia. This year, the Kia Seltos crossed the 2 lakh sales milestone while the Sonet could register a total sale of 1 lakh units Moreover, the total sale of the carmaker has already crossed 1.5 lakh units this year. Until October 2021, the carmaker has registered a net sale of 1,59,641 units, which corresponds to a growth of 48% on YoY basis when compared to 1,07,657 units sold in the same period last year.
Speaking on the performance of the company, Mr. Tae-Jin Park, MD and CEO, Kia India said, "The adverse supply chain situation has been an opportunity lost for us; however, our customers' and vendors' continuous support has enabled us to maintain a healthy performance throughout the year. As we foresee the issue to continue for the next few months, we assure our customers to keep optimizing our production to the maximum level and ensure delivery at the earliest. We are keeping a close eye on the situation and are ready to take the necessary steps as and when required."

In a not-so-far future, Kia India will introduce a new MPV to take on the Maruti Ertiga and XL6. Expected to be dubbed 'Carens', the new model will share aplenty with the Seltos. One can safely expect the new model to share the engines as well as the platform with the hot-selling C-SUV. On the features front, the Kia Carens should offer a large sunroof, touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, rear AC vents, wireless charging, front-seat ventilation, rear defogger, LED headlamps, push-button start, and many other features like cruise control and connected car tech.
