Mahindra Scorpio N Pick-Up Concept: Styling

Notably, the front end bears a clear resemblance to the Scorpio N, evident in the shared design cues of the headlights, bonnet, fenders, and front doors. The redesigned bumper features a substantial bash plate and lower tow hooks, while above the bash plate, an aggressively styled protruding grille catches the eye. The pronounced wheel arches effortlessly accommodate robust tires. The concept also showcases practical accessories, including a roof rack equipped with floodlights and a rear roll cage. Notably, the presence of two spare tires on the deck appears to be primarily for visual treats only.

The rear profile gets squarish pixelated LED tail lamps with the loading gate with 4 X4 badging. Accentuating the looks and practicality further, a metal rear bumper with integrated lights can also be seen. Emphasizing the brand, the tailgate proudly displays the 'Mahindra' lettering, while the rear bumper incorporates practicality with twin tow hooks and a central step, facilitating access to the load bed.

Features

The Global Pik Up concept from Mahindra offers an array of advanced features and technology. Notable among these are Level-2 ADAS capability, semi-automatic parking, and 5G-based connectivity. Additionally, the pickup will come equipped with a sunroof, a popular choice among Indian consumers. Moreover, the model will feature Trailer Sway Mitigation, an ESP system that detects trailer swaying and employs brake and throttle control interventions through ESP to counteract it. It also gets multiple drive and terrain modes for efficient maneuvering through diverse landscapes.

Powertrain

According to Mahindra, the upcoming pickup will be propelled by a second-generation all-aluminum mHawk diesel engine. This powerplant will come with a choice of either a 6-speed manual transmission or an Aisin-sourced 6-speed automatic transmission. The Mahindra Global Pik Up is set to feature 4WD with shift-on-the-fly capability, along with four distinct drive modes: Normal, Grass-Gravel-Snow, Mud-Rut, and Sand.

Launch Expected

The global launch of this pick-up is set for 2025. With a more global approach, Australia, South Africa, and India will be getting this rugged off-roader. The diesel engine in talks is coming first, followed by a petrol unit in select markets.

Verdict

The concept inspires a very promising product, with a rugged stance. Meanwhile, it carries the Scorpio moniker which adds up to the anticipation further. Considerig the stance and styling in concept stage, it will be intersting to see how the production model picks up. But for that, we have to wait till 2025.
