Mahindra XUV700 7-Seater Now Available From MX Variant: Priced At Rs. 15 Lakhs
If you have the option for a 7-seater or a 5-seater layout in the same car, most buyers will prefer to opt for the former, keeping in mind the Indian family requirements. The same is the case with the XUV700. A large chunk of buyers are more inclined toward this variant, and as a result, Mahindra has introduced the 7-seater variant right from the base MX variant. The same is now priced at Rs. 15 lakhs, undercutting the AX3 7-seater by Rs. 3 Lakhs. Interestingly, this variant is also demands Rs. 40,000 more than the 5-seater MX variant. Let's look at what you will get on the inside with the entry-level 7-seater variant.
Features And Interiors
Mirroring the feature set of its two-row sibling, the MX 7-seater will offer the same tech list featuring an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen with Android Auto, a 7-inch multi-information display (MID) with an analog instrument cluster, and a four-speaker sound system, multiple USB ports, tilt-adjustable steering, a center armrest with storage, smart door handles, electrically adjustable ORVMs, and adjustable headrests for four passengers are included. Safety features like follow-me-home headlamps and ISOFIX child seat anchors provide peace of mind. Building on the comfort and practicality of the MX, the 7-seater variant adds third-row air conditioning vents, a center armrest, and a convenient 60:40 one-touch tumble function, allowing for easy access to the third row.

Powertrain Options
Sharing its mechanical underpinnings with the 5-seater MX, the 7-seater variant adopts the same 2.2-liter diesel engine churning out 156 hp, paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox. However, unlike the 5-seater MX that offers a wider selection including a 2.0-liter turbo-petrol engine with a 6-speed manual transmission, the availability of this petrol powertrain in the 7-seater MX remains to be seen. However, it is likely to be offered in the near future.
The 7-seater MX variant is now affordable by Rs. 3 lakhs than the previous entry level AX3 trim. Not only this, it also beats its rivals in pricing in 7-seater space like the Tata Safari, MG Hector Plus, and more.
Verdict
Providing the 7-seater optio right from the base MX varaint is a masterstroke by Mahindra as it slashes the entry point of 7 seater SUV for the masses. Comparising it with the earlier entry-trim at a premium of Rs. 3 lakhs, this will lead to an increased influx of buyers willing to spend that extra amount over the MX 5 seater option.
