Alongside a long waiting period, the XUV700 now gets pricier with 21% of on-road taxes, compared to 17% from before.
The XUV700 is an extremely VFM SUV that competes against the likes of the Tata Harrier, MG Hector Plus, and the upcoming seven-seater SUV from Jeep. Being the first in its segment with Advance Driving Assist Systems, it does come with its set of benefits and massive popularity is one of them. The XUV 700 recorded 70,000 bookings in the first month of its launch itself. However, since its launch, the XUV700 has already witnessed two price hikes. Due to this, the tax slabs for Mahindra XUV700 are now updated and are up by up to 4%.

At the time of its launch, the base Mahindra XUV700 MX petrol started from Rs. 11.99 lakhs, but with two hikes it now stands at Rs. 12.96 lakhs (ex-showroom price, Delhi). Due to this, the road tax applied on the SUV changed from 18% to 21%, in many states. With this, theres an addition of Rs. 1.75 lakh in the on-road price. To break it up, it's Rs. 75,000 increase from M&M and Rs. 1 lakh increase on road tax. As of now, the top-spec diesel XUV700 stands at Rs. 23.80 lakh.
The information was shared by a buyer who had purchased the Mahindra XUV700 Petrol AX7 model in Bangalore, where he managed to save the amount.

The XUV700 is available in 4 trims with both diesel and petrol engine options, manual and automatic transmission, and 5 seater and 7 seater configurations. It is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol unit that produces 200 Ps of power and 380 Nm of peak torque. Then theres the diesel engine that produces 155 Ps and 360 Nm of torque in the lower version and 185 Ps and 420 Nm (manual transmission)/450 Nm (automatic transmission). Some of the standout features of the Mahindra XUV700 include smart door handles, built-in Alexa integration, Intelligence AdrenoX, a 3D Surround system with 12 speakers, and more.
Aside from many reasons, like the semiconductor chip crisis, the XUV700 has had a case of a long waiting period and customers are even asked to wait until September 2023 for select variants. Initially, Mahindra started out on a first come first serve basis. But the company has now changed its strategy to increase SUVs reach in every corner of the country.
