Launched back in Aug 2021, Mahindra XUV700 has garnered a lot of attention since then. A strong competitor to the Tata Safari, the homegrown SUV has received over 99,000 bookings so far. Recently, the carmaker also achieved 14,000 billings of the XUV700 ever since it was launched in India.
Like the new Thar, the waiting period on the XUV700 is also trending. Right from six to over twelve months, depending on the variant. One major reason for the huge waiting period of the Mahindra XUV700 is the shortage of semiconductor chips globally. With this, the production of cars is at a slower rate than before.
Mahindra XUV700 is powered by two engine options - a 2.0L mStallion petrol and a 2.2L mHawk diesel. The former generates as much as 197 bhp on tap with a maximum torque of 380 Nm at 1750 RPM. The oil burner is tuned differently for the MX and AX versions.

With the MX, the diesel produces 153 bhp with a peak torque of 360 Nm while the AX series is tuned to generate 182 bhp with a whopping 420 Nm of healthy torque with the manual. In AX automatic, the power figure remains the same but the torque figure stands at 450 Nm. All these engines are mated to a 6-speed manual as standard and you also get an optional 6-speed torque converter for the AX series.
One of the many reasons why the XUV700 has received a massive response from the Indian market and thus attained a high waiting period is because of the features. It gets the largest panoramic sunroof in the segment, dual-zone climate control, 360-degree camera, adaptive cruise control, connected car tech, LED headlights with cornering and follow me home function, AWD set-up and many more.

The cabin is neatly laid out with a dual-tone interior and the twin 10.25-inch screens (one for the infotainment and the other for the instrument cluster) really stands out. You do get wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Even with the high waiting period, the XUV700 is quite a value for money product. The price starts from as low as Rs 12.96 lakh and fetches till Rs 23.80 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi.
