Mahindra with the introduction of its XUV700 has raised the bars of competition in the SUV market. There is a long list of SUVs available for customers to choose from. However, the latest XUV700 is an attention-seeker and has bold characteristics. Skoda India also recently launched a compact SUV, Kushaq, a perfect blend of luxury. Both the cars have their own identity but then it's a confusing game. Here is a quick Mahindra XUV700 vs Skoda Kushaq comparison that will help you understand the two SUVs better.

Mahindra XUV700 vs Skoda Kushaq Design and Dimensions
Skoda and Volkswagen recently launched their compact SUVs especially designed for India. The design of the compact SUV draws inspiration from its bold looks and has a powerful front design. To create a prominent appearance Kushaq comes with sharply cut, two-part front headlights that extend to the wide Skoda grille.
At the rear, the SUV has a clear structure framed by an elongated roof spoiler and a rugged rear diffuser in the bumper. Skoda Kushaq has a commanding stance and striking design aesthetics which gives the driver confidence to fight all sorts of terrains. The Kushaq, like its sibling Taigun, is built on the same MQB-AO IN platform with a planned 95% localisation level for the new vehicles.
The signature Skoda grille offers a chrome surround and has crystal clear LED headlamps with integrated LED DRLs. At the rear, Kushaq has inverted L-shaped LED taillights and bold Skoda badging on the tailgate. The front and rear bumper gets faux skid plates and also has black plastic cladding all around. The 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels sport the unique design of the SUV. It also gets auto-folding and electrically adjustable ORVMs, electric sunroof, shark fin antenna, and a pair of silver-finished roof rails.

XUV700 is based on Mahindras global W601 platform. However, there is a possibility that the SUV look a bit similar to XUV500. XUV700 being an updated version of the brand, offers rugged styling with new design elements such as clear-view LED Headlamps, arrow LED tail lights, smart door handles, 18-inch alloy wheels and an unmissable front grille. The road presence offered by XUV700 looks appealing and rugged due to the prominent changes in the design.
Though XUV700 and Skoda Kushaq have no similarities, let us take a look at the dimensions of the car.

The difference in dimensions can be spotted in the above-mentioned table. Skoda Kushaq is a five-seater compact SUV with the longest wheelbase in its segment for better in-cabin experience whereas, XUV700 is a five-seater and seven-seater SUV and the difference between the two can be seen.
Mahindra XUV700 vs Skoda Kushaq Specifications
Mahindra XUV700 is available with petrol and diesel engine options. The 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine produces 200 PS of maximum power and 380 Nm of peak torque and the 2.2-litre turbo diesel with CRDi engine delivers 185 PS of maximum power and 450 Nm of peak torque.

On the other hand, Kushaq is only available with two petrol engine options. The 1.0-litre turbocharged inline-3 petrol engine produces 115 PS of maximum power and 175 Nm of peak torque whereas the 1.5-litre turbocharged inline-4 petrol engine produces 150 PS of maximum power and 250 Nm of peak torque. The 1.0-litre is available with six-speed manual and automatic transmission and the 1.5-litre is available with six-speed manual and seven-speed DSG automatic gearbox.

The XUV700 comes with a six-way electronically adjustable drivers seat, dual HD Superscreen which is a combination of infotainment screen and digital drivers display compatible with ADRENOX connected car technology, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility over wifi also, Alexa built-in integration, immersive 3D sound technology, driver drowsiness alert, intuitive drive modes, AdrenoX connect app, and intelligent cockpit.
XUV700 also offers a Luxury Pack with its top-end variants. The luxury pack includes one of the most innovative ADAS safety features that offer Adaptive Cruise Control, High Beam Assist, and Traffic Sign Recognition. Along with the ADAS pack, it comes with ESP, an electronic power brake and auto hold, a front collision warning, and seven airbags.
Skoda Kushaq offers wireless charging, 10-inch infotainment screen compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The list of features is endless and also offers ambient lighting, and LED projector headlamps with LED DRLs are also equipped.
Safety features like ABS with EBD, a multi-collision braking system, TCS, Hill Start Assist, rear-parking camera, Hill Hold Control, Anti-Slip Regulation and Motor Slip Regulation, Roll Over Protection, 6 Airbags, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, Brake Disc Wiping, Electronic Stability Control, and Electronic Differential Locking System are also available.
Skoda has introduced a new steering design which will now be offered with all its models. Skoda also introduced a spatially abundant cabin with its Kushaq. With its 1.0-litre top-end variants, Skoda is also offering front ventilated seats and air purifiers. It is quite similar in features and safety if compared with VW Taigun.

Price
Before purchasing a car, the first thing to strike the mind is budget. Price plays an important role and Mahindra with its changing strategies to attract more customers has aggressively priced its XUV700. The car is available with 34 variants so that it becomes affordable for all. XUV700 starts at Rs 11.99 lakhs (ex-showroom) and goes up to Rs 22.89 lakhs (ex-showroom). Even Skoda India for the first time has launched a compact SUV at such a price tag. For Kushaq, Skoda asks for a starting price of Rs 10.49 lakhs (ex-showroom) and goes up to Rs 18 lakhs (ex-showroom).
