Maruti eVX Launch In 2025: Robust Charging Network Before Its Launch
To enhance the charging experience for its customers, Maruti Suzuki plans to utilize its extensive network of over 5,100 service centers across 2,300 cities ahead of its Maruti eVX launch in early 2025. The company is in advanced discussions with oil marketing companies and energy firms to establish charging stations and is surveying its dealer workshops to ensure each service center has at least one dedicated bay and two charging points. Training for mechanics in Bengaluru is already underway to prepare them for servicing electric vehicles. Additionally, talks with Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum, and Hindustan Petroleum aim to secure space for EV charging stations at their 81,000 retail outlets nationwide, significantly expanding Maruti's charging infrastructure.
The EV push worldwide has slowed down as the masses are not ready to adopt a mode of transport that has a lot of shortcomings to tend to. The biggest being its range constraint and the charging times that accompany it once it's exhausted. Although automakers are evolving daily to offer lesser juice-up times to more and more mileage, shifting from a 3-4 minute fill-up of the fossil-powered vehicles to hours is something that has failed to change consumer behavior. So much so that big carmakers like Volvo and Mercedes have adjusted their all-EV ambition to go for a hybrid or other sustainable routes. Maruti aims to address this major barrier by offering charging points across its deep-rooted dealership network.
