Maruti Suzuki India, on its 40th Anniversary, announced the launch of its Black edition of all cars under the Nexa and Arena outlets. After spotting WagonR, Celerio, Ertiga, and the Alto K10 in this Black Avatar, now we have the entrant Maruti XL6 from the Nexa house. It is interesting to know that the Black Edition doesn't demand any premium for the dark paint job.
Let's check out the pictures and highlights.
Maruti XL6 Black Edition
The first thing to note is that this black paint scheme is only available in the top variants, Alpha and Alpha+ only. At the front, the design is exactly the same, but in Pearl Midnight Black Color with chrome strips on the grille and a silver chin on the bumper for accents.

From its side profile, it sports nothing but black. The only departure being, diamond-cut silver finish alloys that provide a premium tint to the MPV. The chrome window lining is also blacked out for this exclusive edition.
The detailing done to keep the side profile dark is evident from the blacked-out side portions of the tail lamps, which hug the sides of the XL6. This makes it a little different than the treatment given to the Ertiga black edition.
Also, an add-on limited edition accessory package that includes an exterior body kit, interior styling kit, seat covers, and garnish kit makes its way.
The rear accentuates the theme a lot more prominently. The rear is all black with just the outlining of the tail lamps in red and the brand logo in chrome. The lamps smoked out imparts a more sporty and sharp feel to the MPV.
Mechanicals Untouched
The engine and features are the same as before. The edition sees no other changes apart from the cosmetic ones. The same 1.5-liter K-series petrol engine produces 102bhp and 136.8Nm of torque. The smart hybrid technology also makes its way onto the MPV. This engine comes mated to a 5-speed MT and a new 6-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters.
VERDICT- Since time immemorial, The black color option has had its separate fanbase. Even though it demands extra pampering and wash care, it does stand out and imparts a definite character. With the launch of this new edition, Maruti Suzuki buyers will have the option to buy their rides in black. Plus, it retails at the same exact amount, which is a cherry on top.
