The novel coronavirus which originally originated in Wuhan, China back in December 2019, is now taking a raging form in India and is spreading at a rapid rate. The Indian Government has announced a 40-day nationwide lockdown in the country to break the spread-chain of the virus and along with the government, everyone is trying their bit to contribute something and become a helping hand in this difficult time. Like others, the automakers are also becoming a lending hand of the government and MG Motors has now taken a significant step in this direction. The carmaker has donated specially-made MG Hector Ambulance to the Gujarat Government to fight against the novel virus.

The Chinese-owned British-originated carmaker Morris Garage Motors entered the Indian market just last year but the car manufacturer is proactive in helping the coronavirus victims. MG Motor India has already announced a number of initiatives to assist in COVID-19 nationwide relief efforts and the automaker has now donated a dedicated Hector ambulance for Sars-CoV-2 virus patients to the Gujarat state government to succour at the regional level.
The MG Hector Ambulance has been developed by MG Motor Indias Engineering team at Halol (Gujarat) in partnership with Ahmedabad-based Natraj Motor Body Builders. Since the situation of COVID-19 is getting worse day by day in Gujarat state with more than 3800 confirmed cases and 181+ deaths as of now, there was an immediate need for support and thus the vehicle conversion was completed within a short span of just 10 days.
This retrofitted MG Hector Ambulance features all sorts of first-aid kits and life-saving medical equipment such as an imported auto-loading stretcher, an oxygen supply system with a cylinder to provide emergency assistance to the patient on the way to the hospital, etc. It also comes fitted with a jump seat for an attendant which is one half of Hectors original rear seat and has been reused by MG to save some cost.
This specially-curated Hector Ambulance also comes loaded with a medicine cabinet with a five-parameter monitor, inverter with battery and sockets and some other medical equipment. It also gets a fire extinguisher along with internal lighting in the cabin and a top light bar with siren and amplifier mounted on the roof.

This one-off MG Hector Ambulance was donated by MG Motors India to healthcare authorities in Vadodara. Prior to this, MG Motor India has already taken some bold steps to combat the deadly coronavirus. For instance, MG Motors has announced an alliance with MAX Ventilators to help them increase the production of ventilators. The company has also provided 100 chauffeur-driven Hector SUVs to various authorities and also donated Rs. 2 Crores to fight against COVID-19.
