In a piece of recent news, MG Motor India has announced that their debutant Hector has clocked 3,021 sales for the month of December. The mid-size SUV competes with the likes of Kia Seltos, Mahindra XUV500, Hyundai Creta, Nissan Kicks and Tata Harrier.
MG Hector first achieved the sales record in October by a total of 3,536 units in October then 3,239 units for Nov'19 and in December it crosses 3000 mark again. Since its first launch in late June of 2019, the brand has managed to sell a total of 15,930 units.
Rakesh Sidana, Director Sales, MG Motor India, expressed his thoughts on this joyous occasion and said, " As a new entrant in the Indian market, the robust sales momentum of our first offering, the Hector, has been very encouraging. We are working closely with our global and local suppliers to increase the production of the Hector in 2020 to support the booking backlog".

Also, commenting on the customer support part he said, "In line with our focus on customer satisfaction, we are constantly evaluating the emerging demand for the Hector in newer markets across India. We are proactively setting up more service centres closer to our prospective customers to elevate their ownership experience with MG".
MG Hector is offered in three engine options - petrol, petrol hybrid and a diesel engine. The 1.5-litre petrol motor produces 140 bhp with a peak torque of 250 Nm. Transmission option include a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard but a 7-speed DCT is observed in the 1.5L normal petrol.
Talking about the oil burner then it is an FCA source unit which produces 170 bhp and a maximum of 350 Nm of peak torque. All three engines in the Hector comes with BS4 quality standards. This engine is also offered with a 6-speed MT.

MG Motor India has special plans for the Indian market as they will be bringing Hector Plus in India too. It is not sure if it will come with a six or seven-seat configuration but it sure gets captain row seats for the second row. MG Hector Plus will see some cosmetic upgrades with the restyled front and rear design. The cabin is most likely to remain the same except for the seating configurations.
MG Hector comes with a price tag of Rs 12.48 lakh and the top model fetches up to Rs 17.28 Lakh. Once the Hector Plus is launched, we expect it to see a premium of over a lakh than its five-seater counterpart. All prices stick to ex-showroom, Delhi.
