The second wave of the coronavirus pandemic this year turned out to be far more deadly than its first wave and it has created great havoc in India. Most of the regional governments have implemented complete lockdown in their states. In these tough times, everyone is trying to contribute something and become a helping hand for the needy. Like others, the automakers are also becoming a lending hand of the government and MG Motor India has now taken a significant step in this direction. The company will provide 100 MG Hector Ambulance with life-saving systems for COVID-19 patients in India.
Along with its great vehicles, MG Motor India is even known for its social and charitable works in the country. Last year, during the first wave of the coronavirus pandemic, the company announced a number of initiatives to assist in COVID-19 nationwide relief efforts. The automaker even donated a dedicated Hector ambulance last year for Sars-CoV-2 virus patients to the Gujarat state government to succour at the regional level. Early this year, the company donated five MG Hector ambulance to a hospital in Nagpur, Maharashtra. Now, recently the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways - Nitin Gadkari requested MG Motor India to deploy 100 Hector ambulances equipped with life-saving systems for Nagpur and Vidarbha.
MG Motor India promptly delivered eight retrofitted Hector ambulances to Nagpur local authorities upon the appeal by the Union Minister. Also, the remaining units will be provided at the earliest. Speaking on the occasion, Rajeev Chaba, President and MD, MG Motor India, said, "We are extremely proud that the minister has called for our support at this critical time. We have immediately deposited 8 of the 100 requested MG Hector Ambulance units." Now, if we talk about the features of the Hector ambulance, so it is being developed by MG Motor India's Engineering team at Halol (Gujarat).

The new Hector ambulance features all sorts of first-aid kits and life-saving medical equipment such as an imported auto-loading stretcher, an oxygen supply system with a cylinder to provide emergency assistance, etc. It also comes fitted with a jump seat for an attendant, a medicine cabinet with a five-parameter monitor, an inverter with battery and sockets and some other medical equipment. It even features a fire extinguisher along with internal lighting in the cabin and a top light bar with a siren and amplifier mounted on the roof.
