MG Windsor EV To Offer Longer Range

The MG Windsor EV is doing exceptionally well in the EV space with all the bells and whistles along with its Battery as a service model of ownership that really shines in its reduced upfront costs. Now, the buyers are satisfied with everything that's on offer, but the brand is ready to up the ante with a longer range model after gauging the recent success. For those looking for more range, the Windsor EV is expected to offer a beefed-up 50kWh battery, the same one MG uses in its global EVs like the ZS EV.

This larger pack, likely reserved for the top-tier model, should deliver around 460km on a single charge (ARAI MIDC cycle). This battery allows the MG ZS EV to go from 0 to 100kmph in 8.6 seconds, and to have a top speed of 175 kmph. Notably, this bigger pack is already on sale in international markets, where Windsor goes by the name Wuling Cloud EV.

Battery And Specs
The current Windsor EV uses a 38kWh LFP battery with prismatic cells, powering a front-mounted motor that puts out 136bhp and 200Nm of torque. This combination gives it a claimed 331km range on a full charge and the drivers can choose from four driving modes: Eco, Eco+, Normal, and Sport.
Verdict
The timimg to introduce a bigger battery with the Windsor pack is right now. The model currently enjoys a solid popularity with the kind of space, comfort and features that it offers at a starting price point of Rs. 13.99 lakhs ex-showroom. This gives a tough competition to the like its rivals and increasing the overall range will be even better for the Windsor. However, do note that the longer range will come at increased costs, but MG is very well in a position to test those waters.
