Ather 450S Electric Scooter - What Will Be Different?
Currently, there are no spied-on images to speak of the exact details but we anticipate that the 450S is a new variant. It won't be a new scooter overall but it'll be a similar-looking & more affordable version of the 450X. In the current scenario, rivals like Ola S1 Air & TVS iQube S offer affordable options. However, Ather 450X is a bit premium priced when compared to them. Hence, Ather knows that an affordable version is much necessary to remain competitive in sales.
Now, speaking of the 450S, it will get a smaller battery capacity as well as fewer features. We suspect that features like multiple riding modes, Hill Hold Assist, Parking Assist, etc., won't be available with it. It is going to be a more basic variant with fewer features and is lightweight to make it a good go for city commuting. Hence, its pricing will be below Rs 1.5 lakh; thus, helping Ather to take advantage of the FAME subsidy as well. Recently, Ather has returned Rs 140 crores to its 95,000 customers for falsely charging them for home chargers of the e-scooter. This was done to undercut the FAME subsidy.
Verdict - When Will It Launch?
As we speak, Ather is moving forward in the development of this affordable e-scooter variant. However, it won't be before the upcoming festive season that the 450S hits the Indian market. Also, it'll get new colour options to make it look funky as well as attractive for young buyers.
