KTM has today finally launched the all-new 2021 KTM Duke 125 BS6 in the Indian market. The new MY21 KTM Duke 125 gets new sharp body panels, a larger fuel tank, new premium hardware bits, two new triple-tone colour options and more. It was a much-needed update as the KTM Duke 125 was first launched in the Indian market in November 2018. We all have been complaining that the Duke 125 has lost its charm as it looks a bit old, but, now no more craving as the Baby Duke is back and with a bang! The price of the new 2021 KTM Duke 125 BS6 starts at Rs. 1.50 lakhs, Ex-showroom Delhi and here we have for you all the details about it.
The new MY21 KTM Duke 125 gets a distinctive styling that is inspired by the performance powerhouse - KTM 1290 Super Duke R. It now resembles the Duke 200 BS6 that is on sale in India to a great extent. Earlier this year, the KTM Duke 200 also got a significant update with new mechanicals and cosmetic overhaul. Now, the new 2021 KTM Duke 125 BS6 gest KTM's latest design language. The Baby Duke gets a re-designed sharp headlamp with KTM's signature daytime-running LEDs. Also, the motorcycle continues to get all-LED turn indicators and LED taillamps. Then, we also have new paint schemes for the motorcycle. All in all, it now looks much better than before.
Talking about the colour options, the new Duke 125 will be available in two colour shades - Electronic Orange and Ceramic White. Both these colours get triple-tone treatment. The Electronic Orange shade gets Orange with White & Black accents while the Ceramic White colour variant gets White fuel tank with Black & Orange accents. The naked streetfighter now gets a revised trellis frame with a bolt-on-rear subframe. It also gets a larger fuel tank which is more ergonomic than before and can hold up to 13.5-litres of petrol. The older Duke 125's fuel-tank capacity was just 10.5-litres. Also, it now weighs 159 kgs, which is around seven kilograms more than before.
While the motorcycle has got a lot of cosmetic changes, there are absolutely no changes in the powertrain. The new MY21 KTM Duke 125 continues to be powered by the same BS6-compliant 124.7cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected engine. This BS6 motor churns out 14.5 PS of maximum power at 9250 RPM and 12 Nm of peak torque at 8000 RPM. The engine comes mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. For suspension duties, it gets USD or upside-down forks at the front and a mono-shock absorber at the rear. The braking duties on the motorcycle are performed by large disc brakes at either end and it gets a single-channel ABS too. Also, its seat height has been increased by 4 mm and the seat height is now rated at 822 mm.
Speaking on the occasion of the new MY21 KTM Duke 125's launch, Sumeet Narang, President (Probiking) at Bajaj Auto Ltd. said, "Spawned from the 1290 beast itself and packed full of Duke attitude, the KTM 125 DUKE exudes qualities never seen in this category before. The ultra-lightweight trellis frame and subframe provide razor-sharp control, and the new styling is an absolute head turner. The launch of KTM 125 DUKE in late 2018 had been a point of inflexion for KTMs stronghold amongst the young biking enthusiasts in India. Upgrading that model with this new all capable entry-level KTM is another testimony of the brand's commitment to bringing pure performance to its valued customers."
The price of the all-new 2021 KTM Duke 125 BS6 starts at Rs. 1.50 lakhs, Ex-showroom Delhi. It is around 8,000 rupees dearer than its predecessor and it's fine considering the number of changes it has got. It does not have any direct rivals but indirectly, it will rival against the likes of the Yamaha MT-15, Honda Hornet 2.0, TVS Apache RTR 200 4V, etc. What are your thoughts on the new 2021 KTM Duke 125 BS6 and also on its pricing?
