Ather Energy is on the verge of introducing a new addition to its electric scooter lineup, tentatively named the Series 2. Notably, this model is expected to feature transparent body panels throughout, a departure from the translucent panels seen in the previous Series 1 scooter. CEO Tarun Mehta has provided a glimpse of this upcoming scooter on his social media accounts, confirming the use of fully transparent panels. In contrast to the Collectors Edition, which featured translucent panels, the Series 2 aims to offer a unique and distinctive design with its completely transparent bodywork.

New Ather Series 2 Incoming
Ather Energy's Co-founder and CEO, Tarun Mehta, has officially announced the return of transparent panels in the company's upcoming electric scooter model. While an exact launch date has not been disclosed, Tarun has assured that the panels on the new scooter will be genuinely transparent, distinguishing them from the translucent units featured in the limited edition Series 1 electric scooter. The anticipation builds as Ather Energy aims to deliver a fresh and innovative design with fully transparent panels in its upcoming release.

When Ather introduced the Series 1 in 2020, it proudly claimed the title of the first production scooter with near-transparent panels. The visual impact was noteworthy, allowing a view of internal components like the distinctive skeletal trellis frame. However, Ather is taking transparency to a new level with the upcoming 2023 special edition. Shared images by Tarun Mehta reveal comprehensive transparency, showcasing wires, clips, bolts, holes, slots, the battery casing, and the frame. While some may find this bold design format appealing, it undoubtedly represents a departure from traditional scooter design norms.
New Ather 450X HR Homologated
As per the homologation document, the Ather 450X HR features a substantial 3.66 kWh battery pack. In terms of impressive range figures, the Ather 450X HR boasts 158 km, while the 450S HR claims 156 km under AIS 040 (Rev 1) standards. This represents a notable improvement over the existing 450X, which offers two battery options with claimed ranges of 111 km and 150 km. The 450X HR is equipped with various ride modes, including Eco, Smart Eco, Ride, Sport, and Warp. In Warp mode, the scooter generates 8.58 bhp, while Eco mode is the least powerful, producing just 2.54 bhp.
The Ather 450S HR is stated to have a top speed of 80 km/h, and it's anticipated that the 450X HR will provide a similar range. The existing 450S and 450X models available for purchase currently claim a top speed of 90 km/h. However, the latest documents do not specify the top speed for the Ather 450X HR.
Verdict
While the brand has toyed with the idea in the past with Series 1, this is going to the next level. With complete transparency, the mechanics and the componentery will intrigue enthusisast and the usual masses alike.
