- Nissan Kicks has been one of the most underrated vehicles in its segment
- A new-gen Kicks with new-gen tech & features might help it to get the success it deserves
- Finally, Nissan seems to have started road testing the new-gen Kicks
Nissan recently discontinued the Kicks from the Indian market due to low sales and the new BS6 phase-2 emission norms. And now, the Japanese carmaker has started testing the new generation of Kicks. The new 2024 Nissan Kicks is expected to have a global debut later this year. Although the spied images of the new-gen Nissan Kicks test vehicle are totally camouflaged, several elements of the vehicle can be clearly seen. Here are all the details we could extract from the first spied images of the new-gen Nissan Kicks camouflaged testing unit.
New-Gen Nissan Kicks: Design Details
The spied images clearly reveal the high-mounted DRLs in the front of the vehicle. The headlamps are not clearly visible but they seem to be integrated with the DRL itself. There is a large & wide grille in the front with a totally different design from the previous gen Kicks. On the side, the large wheel arches do look good. The wheel arches also get thick cladding all around. The alloy wheels design is something very different. They seem like 17 or 18-inch alloys with just 3 spokes which are much more comprehensive than normal alloy wheel spokes. Although the vehicle's rear is not fully visible, the taillamps can be clearly seen. They too are uniquely designed with small cube-like patterns. The rear spoiler, shark fin antenna, and roof rails are also easily visible.
New-Gen Nissan Kicks: Other Details & Visible Elements
Apart from all the new design details, many elements are visible in the new-gen Nissan Kicks that confirm some specific features. In the front, we can easily see the bottom grille-mounted radar. This means the new-gen Kicks will offer ADAS tech. Also, the front ADAS camera is also visible on the top of the front windscreen. There are also front parking sensors in the new-gen Kicks testing vehicle. The alloy wheel design also reveals the presence of rear disc brakes in the new-gen Nissan Kicks.

Verdict: The new-gen Nissan Kicks gets a completely new design. From the exterior, it looks much more SUVish than its previous generation. Although Nissan has not yet confirmed the launch of new-gen Kicks in India, we can expect it as the recently discontinued previous-gen Kicks was also available in India. However, the low sales numbers of the previous-gen Kicks in India could become the reason for Nissan dropping India from the target markets of the new-gen Kicks.
