- Honda Activa 6G launched in 3 new variants
- Starts from Rs. 74,500 ex-showroom
- The top variant H-Smart gets smart-key features
Honda has just launched the new Honda Activa 6G in 3 new variants starting from Rs.74,500. Since its launch, Activa has been a household name. The pioneer of the transition from bikes to gearless scooters was the Activa itself. Many came to challenge its dominance like the Suzuki Access and Hero Maestro, but little did they know that this wasn't just any scooter. This is the success that Honda wants to keep enjoying. So, here they are with all the new upgrades on the Activa 6G.
But what we will be talking about in this particular story is the top variant that has been named the Honda Activa H-Smart variant, which is the most exciting update. This variant is as techy as it gets.
1. The Smart Key Fob- Keyless Car Features, Now With Activa
Smart Find - Cant find exactly where is your scooter in a parking lot? If youre within 10 meters of the scooter, Press the find key and all the indicators will start flashing, letting you know the location of the vehicle.
Smart Unlock - When youre within two meters of the scooter, you can lock and unlock its handle, and also unlock the fuel lid and the seat.
Smart Safe - You can turn on your scooter by being simply within two meters of the scooter. If the distance increases, the scooter locks itself automatically. There is an option to disable this feature, but it is a nice and thoughtful touch considering that it is offered on a scooter.
2. Engine Immobiliser- Anti-Theft Safety Notched Up
This is a neat upgrade in safety features that Honda has provided with the new variants. The engine immobilizer is nothing new, but integrating it into the Activa is definitely a welcome move. Just for the record, Engine Immobiliser is an electronic security device, when equipped, simply cuts off the engine when someone tries to start the scooter with any other key than the one used to lock it. In simpler terms, the engine immobilizer prevents the engine from starting in the absence of the vehicles authentic and authorized keys.
3. Honda Activa With Alloy Wheels - A little Tweak
Now you do get a 13-inch alloy wheel set-up for your Activa. This is a nice addition considering some rivals already offer them. This imparts a new refreshed scent to the already hit and accepted design of the Honda's 2-wheeler. The tyres are also upgraded and as per Honda, it reduces road friction and offers better mileage numbers.
4. No Change In Engine And Still Looks The Same
Apart from some features, there is no change in the mechanicals of the Activa. With this, you get the same engine that was being offered on the Activa 6G launched earlier. It is the same 109.5 cc unit with 7.79 PS power and produces a torque of 8.79 Nm. Additionally, it gets a telescopic fork with a mono-shock suspension.
5. Honda Activa H-Smart: First OBD-2 Compliant Engine
With the new updated variants, Honda Activa has now become the first 2-wheeler in India to comply with the OBD-2 emission norms. What this means is that the scooter now complies with real-time emission norms and not just the laboratory benchmarks. Honda was the first maker to comply with the BS 6 emission norms and has done the same with the OBD-2 norms as well. This is a praiseworthy effort.
VERDICT- The top-end H-Smart variant of the Honda Activa 6G has lots to offer on the features upgradation and the additional 13-inch alloy wheels. However, The smart-Key functionality is the main talking point among enthusiasts. Apart from that, nothing has changed, the engine and the looks remain the same. Engine immobilization is a useful and important safety update. Honda has sold approximately 35 million Activa and the number can be expected to rise.
