Bajaj Dominar 400: New-Gen Model Details
In a recent media interaction, Mr Rakesh Sharma, ED, Bajaj Auto Ltd, has confirmed that a new Dominar 400 is under consideration. As per the interaction, Mr Sharma said that the new Pulsar NS400Z has closed the gap between the affordable Pulsars and a powerful big-engine bike. The aggressive pricing strategy of the NS400Z has attracted a lot of customers. However, speaking on the Dominar, he said that it will be revamped to a premium segment level. With that, it is expected to become out of hand for the majority of consumers. But, the NS400Z will be there to cover this gap.
Reviving the memories, when Bajaj launched the Dominar 400, its main aim was to target the Royal Enfield bikes. However, the tables turned the opposite way and the Dominar 400 failed to sell in respectable numbers. Over time, Bajaj realised that it was more of a sports-tourer and hence new accessories were launched, for example, the touring kit, etc.
Now, the new Dominar 400 is the key for Bajaj to enter into the premium segment. Royal Enfield has already done it with its 650cc platform. The 650cc parallel-twin bikes by Royal Enfield have created a new niche of consumers. This niche is what Bajaj will aim for with the new Dominar. It is very much possible that the new Dominar generation could get a bigger engine as well. Who knows, right? Currently, the main focus of Bajaj is on its first-ever CNG bike which is going to launch on July 5 in India.
