While on one hand, the Nissan Magnite is selling like hotcakes, thanks to the package it offers in the price bracket, the same can't be said about the sibling SUV. The Nissan Kicks is suffering big time with extremely low sales figures. Historically, in the last 3 months, not a single unit has been manufactured. Which ultimately lead to the halting of bookings of Kicks by the company. Does this mark the end of the Ill-fated SUV's run in India? Let's check out what's happening with this car.
Nissan Kicks Bookings Stopped
What seemed like a roadblock is transforming into a dead-end for the Nissan Kicks? After selling just 3 units in November 2022, not a single unit has been sold since then. Nissan has stopped accepting bookings via both online and offline stores. What's interesting is that no unit was manufactured in the last 2 months as well, and it makes a lot of sense.
Although you can find the Kicks listed on the official website, the same can't be booked. The star sibling. Nissan Magnite can be booked via digital as well as brick-and-mortar channels. And the rumor mills suggest that the brand might also be looking to discontinue Nissan Kicks due to its poor sales performance numbers here in India.
Engine And Features It Offers
The Nissan Kicks is available with a 1.3L Turbo Petrol and a 1.5L Naturally Aspirated Petrol engine.
The 1.3L Turbo Petrol engine is mated to a 6-speed Manual and also a CVT Automatic transmission. The 1.5L Naturally Aspirated Petrol engine gets a 5-speed MT Manual transmission.
The 1.3L Turbo Petrol engine makes 156PS of power and 254Nm of peak torque. The 1.5L engine in the Nissan Kicks pushes out 106PS of power and 142Nm of torque.
VERDICT- What seemed like a bad phase for the Kicks has worsened. Despite discounts and offers, it struggles to bring people out to spend money. The current halting of bookings and no units manufactured might be an early sign of the Kicks departure from future lineups here in India.
