Ola Electric, a Banagaluru based electric manufacturer last year launched two electric scooters wherein the company received a huge amount of bookings. Ola Electric recently announced that it has stopped the production of S1 e-scooter and will only focus on manufacturing the higher version of S1 pro only. The company will commence with the production of S1 later this year.
Ola Electric kept its potential customers waiting for a long time however, the company started with the deliveries of the scooter in the month of December last year. The customers who finally received their S1 e-scooter were not satisfied and complained about the build quality and range issues. With this the company is planning to fix this issue very soon and along with this it also communicated that the production S1 will now start from late 2022.
The company is planning to manufacture S1 pro on priority. Ola Electric has received more bookings for the top-spec S1 pronand for the ones who had booked S1 is given a choice to upgrade to the top-spec model. Ola announced that this can be done with the help of Ola application that can be downloaded on every smartphone device. The company will open the final payment window on January 21, at 6 PM.
Ola will not stop with the deliveries and dispatches that are planned to continue for the next two months. The scooters that are dispatched will be delivered at the mentioned address after 10-20 days depending on the location and RTO requirements. The company has circulated an email to the S1 customers stating that the production of S1 e-scooter has been postponed to late 2022.

The ones who have already booked the S1, have two options. Either they can wait for another 9-11 months till the time the company commences with its production or the customers can even upgrade to S1 pro or can even cancel their e-scooter on their mobile phone application or by contacting the customer support team.
The S1 buyers are given a chance to upgrade to S1 pro software that permits them to access pro range, hyper mode, and more premium S1 pro features by just paying a sum of Rs 30,000 only. Ola Electric has created a lot of confusion with the announcement of this news. Earlier the company had promised its customers that the e-scooter will reach them by December 2021 however it is now postponed to late 2022 only for S1 buyers.
The Ola S1 is priced at Rs 85,099 (ex-showroom, Delhi) and the S1 Pro is priced at Rs 1.10 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). When fully charged, the S1 has a range of 121 km and a top-speed of 90 kmph whereas the S1 Pro can clock 181 km and a top-speed of 115 kmph.
