Renault India showcased the Duster turbo petrol at the 2020 Auto Expo and now after the delay, it is rumoured to get launched in August 2020. The Renault Duster will get the same 1.3-litre turbo petrol which we also get in the Kicks. The Kicks and Duster both carry similar underpinnings, engines and parts. The Kicks is more premium than the Duster and also offers better features. But which one should you buy? Just to answer that, we have come up with Renault Duster Turbo Vs Nissan Kicks spec comparison.
Renault Duster Turbo Vs Nissan Kicks - Design and Dimensions
Renault Duster is very familiar as Renault hasn't made any big changes to the Duster since its launch in India. We also have the second generation of the Duster but there are no signs of that car launching in India. The Turbo Duster will get some red highlights on the front grille and on the fog lamp housing whereas the rear will get the Duster badging is sporty red colour.

Talking about the Nissan Kicks, it recently got the BS6 update but no changes were made on the outside. The new Kicks now comes with two engine options - 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol and 1.3-litre turbo petrol. The latter one comes mated to either 6-speed manual and 7-step CVT. The design of the Kicks is more of a Crossover rather than of an SUV and looks better than the Duster thanks to its refreshing looks and 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels.
Model | Duster | Kicks |
Length | 4360mm | 4384mm |
Width | 1822mm | 1813mm |
Height | 1695mm | 1669mm |
Wheelbase | 2673mm | 2673mm |
Talking about the dimensions, both the cars are underpinned by the same platform which results in identical wheelbase. But as we told you earlier that the Duster sports more SUV proportions, it excels in terms of width and height thanks to flared wheel arches and big roof trails. However, the interior room in both cars will be similar.
Renault Duster Turbo Vs Nissan Kicks - Features and Interiors
The Renault Duster is the older car here and that makes it a backbencher in terms of modern amenities and safety nannies. We got to see a new and improved dashboard design with the recent facelift but the quality isn't something to boast for. The touch nav system is placed down below in a flat position and the telephony controls are also hard to access. Talking about the features, we get dual airbags, ABS, EBD, cruise control, reverse camera, touchscreen system with Android Auto and Apple Car Play, automatic AC and much more.
The Nissan Kicks, on the other hand, is a far more premium car on the inside and also offer some great features. The dashboard of the Nissan Kicks gets stitched leather and carbon fibre trim pieces. The centrally mounted 8.0-inch touchscreen offers Nissan connect, Android Auto and Apple Car Play and the Kicks was also the first car of its segment to offer 360-degree parking camera. Talking about the features, it gets auto AC, rear AC vents, 360-degree parking camera, 4 airbags, ABS, EBD, VSM, keyless entry and go, cruise control and many more features.
Renault Duster Turbo Vs Nissan Kicks - Engine and Power
Model | Duster | Kicks |
Displacement | 1.3-litre 4-cyl turbo petrol | 1.3-litre 4-cyl turbo petrol |
Power | 154 bhp | 154 bhp |
Torque | 254 Nm | 254 Nm |
Gearbox | 6-speed MT / CVT | 6-speed MT / CVT |
Both the Duster and the Kicks shares its engine and powertrain options. Although both cars come with 1.5-litre petrol and 1.3-litre turbo petrol, we are comparing the turbo petrol today. The engine used in both the cars is the same 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine which has been developed in association with Daimler AG. The 1.3-litre engine producing 156 PS of power produces the best power figures in its class. You can get it either with a 6-speed manual or 7-step CVT box.

Renault Duster Turbo Vs Nissan Kicks - Prices
Model | Duster (Expected) | Kicks |
Manual Turbo | Rs 10 - 11.99 lakh | Rs 11.85 - 13.90 lakh |
AT Turbo | NA | Rs 13.45 - 15.15 lakh |
Renault is yet to launch the new Duster with the turbo petrol and the launch is imminent in August 2020. We expect the upcoming Duster turbo petrol to be priced from Rs 10 lakh ex-showroom whereas the lower RXE trim will continue to come with a 1.5-litre petrol engine. The automatic CVT is also expected to come with the Duster but we cannot ascertain the price of that. The verdict of this comparison depends on the price as Renault also has a better sales and support network than Nissan. On paper, the Nissan Kicks is the winner if you want a powerful and feature-packed SUV but poor sales and service is a let down in Nissan's part as well.
