River, a Bengaluru-based electric vehicle (EV) startup, introduces the Indie electric scooter for Rs. 1.25 lakh (ex-showroom, Bengaluru). The Indie electric scooter comes with a brand-new design and includes many first seen. It has a 120 km claimed range, and the brand refers to it as a 'SUV of scooter.' The River Indie can be booked in advance on the brand's official website, and delivery will start in August 2023.

River Indie Electric Scooter
The 4 kWh battery in the River Indie electric scooter has a real-world range of 120 km and can be charged to 80% capacity in 5 hours using a conventional charger. Indie can reach a top speed of 90 kmph thanks to a strong motor with a 6.7 kW peak output. It has an 18-degree gradeability. Moreover, it has three riding options: Eco, Ride, and Rush. Among other things, it has a digital instrument cluster, two USB ports, twin beam LED headlamp, and reverse park assistance.
The 14-inch wheels on Indie are a first for any electric scooter being sold in India. Also, the scooter features 165mm ground clearance, telescopic front suspension, twin shock absorbers at the rear, alloy clip on handle bar. With a huge 43L under the seat storage and a 12L front glove box, the scooter boasts the most storage of any scooter. The Lock & Load pannier-stays on the sides, the first of their kind on any form of the scooter, offer a variety of adaptations to serve diverse purposes.
Verdict: In contrast to traditional electric scooters, the new River Indie scooter is unique. It stands apart from other scooters because of an array of interesting elements. It will compete with the Ola S1 Pro, TVS iQube, Ather 450X, Bajaj Chetak, and other similarly priced electric scooters.
