Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 ADV Details

Speaking of the first bike, the 450 Himalayan is a new-gen of the ADV. The Himalayan has been one of the most popular bikes in its segment. Additionally, its popularity led to the launch of Scram 411 in the market as well. However, the 450 will be a completely new breed. Sources on the internet suggest that it will be using a brand-new chassis, engine, & underpinnings. Its official teaser has already been released on the social media handle of CEO Mr. Siddharth Lal.

Meanwhile, its engine is going to be a 450cc, single-cylinder unit with liquid cooling. We suspect that it will produce a peak power of around 40 bhp. However, no solid comments can be made on it until it is officially unveiled. It is also expected to get the latest features like - a digital instrument console, ride-by-wire, riding modes, Bluetooth connectivity, etc. Its main rival will be the KTM Adventure 390 in India.

Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650

Additionally, the 650 range of the RE is also going to expand. One such model is the Super Meteor 650. It is essentially a cruiser based on the Interceptor 650 underpinnings. However, a lot has changed on this bike. Multiple test mules spotted in the past have already revealed their design. It will be an old-school low-slung cruiser like the Meteor 350 itself but with a bigger engine.

Unlike the present 650 twins, it will be a more high-tech feature-loaded bike. We suspect that it will get features like alloy wheels, a new exhaust design, a large windscreen, a semi-digital infotainment system, etc. However, the engine will remain the same 648cc, parallel-twin, oil-cooled engine. It makes a peak power output of 47 bhp and 52 Nm of peak torque. We expect that the Super Meteor will be priced at around Rs 3 lakh in India.

Verdict

With the introduction of newer models, the legacy and footprint of Royal Enfield are bound to extend. However, the rich competition offers some value-for-money products already. It will be very interesting to see how the company deals with its rivals and also manages to retain the cost-benefit ratio. Meanwhile, we think it won't be any time sooner before mid-2023 that we see these new RE bikes on Indian roads.
