Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 & Bobber 650 have been spied testing together. The test bikes throw light on new details regarding both of the upcoming models.
It has been an exciting month for the Royal Enfield fans globally. Firstly, the Hunter 350 got launched that became the most compact and lightest bike for RE. Now, test mules of the upcoming Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 & the Bobber 650 have been spied. Both of the bikes were near production-ready while undergoing through final phase of testing. Mr. Sid Lal has already teased the upcoming bigger Himalayan on his social media handles. The new spy photos help us retrieve more details about the new bikes.

Royal Enfield Himalayan 450
The spotting took place on the outskirts of Chennai. Testing on its home turf, the spied Himalayan 450 has less rally-oriented looks. This could be possibly due to the fact that RE will offer it in multiple variants. Internet has rumors that the new Himalayan will be offered at least in 2 variants - Standard (which is seen here) & the Rally-Spec (more harcodre off-road setup).
We suspect that the spied mule is of the standard Himalayan. Meanwhile, the spied bike has LED turn indicators like the Harley-Davidson Pan America. Additionally, the top bpx and side panniers are missing on this one. This could possibly mean that RE might offer a luggage package for the top box, panniers, and fuel carriers.
However, the spied bike has the top box mounts for fixing the luggage on the go. The rims are spokes meaning that it will get tube-type tyres which might not be much appreciated by the new buyers. Tyres on the bike are all terrain; meaning that the standard fitment remains off-road oriented. Other design details include the upswept exhaust can, single preload adjustable monoshock rear suspension, larger windscreen, LED headlight, LED taillight, & a long travel front suspension.
It is being expected that the new Himalayan will debut with a bigger engine. This unit is a 450cc single-cylinder with liquid-cooling as well. Additonally, a brand new 6-speed gearbox will be offered along with it. We expect that RE will offer features like a digital instrument console, cornering ABS, ride-by-wre, etc. to compete with its rivals like the KTM Adventure 390 & Yezdi Adventure.
RE Bobber 650 Details
Along with the Himalayan was a Bobber 650 test mule as well. The spied mule was production-ready with no camouflage at all. It is a neo-retro styled motorcycle that is going to offer blend of performance and technology. It is no brainer that RE will add it along with Super Meteor 650 & the Shotgun 650 to its 650cc lineup.
The Bobber shall offer low-slung seating position with front-set footpegs and laid back riding posture. The handlebar is tubular on the test bike and has been stretched back. Additionally, it is using LED lighting all around, a semi digital instrument console like the one seen on Meteor 350. RE has blacked out the bits of engine like the head cover, FI protector plates, & even the engine casing.
The overall design has been further enhanced via the use of the spoked rims. However, RE is testing 18-inch alloy wheels and we have already seen test mules running them on various 650 prototype models. This means that the customers will have a choice to upgrade to tubeless tyres in it. A twin split seat setup is being used with a redesigned exhaust can design.
However, it is the engine that is going to be the same as seen on the Interceptor 650. It produces 47 bhp and 52 Nm of torque. We're expecting that the Bobber shall also make similar power & torque figures. Meanwhile, the expectations are also that it shall feature a remapped ECU and gear ratios. This will help in countering its weight & dimensions.
Launch & Pricings
It is being expected that the upcoming Himalayan 450 might make its debut later this year. However, it will not be anytime soon before the mid 2023 that the bike makes it to showrooms. Similarly, the Bobber 650 will also debut by the end of 2022 with an expected launch time of 2023 - Q1.
