Mercedes Benz E Class - Dimensions And Design
Mercedes Benz highest selling product in India is E-Class, and it has redefined the taste of luxury among Indian customers. Here only, the LWB body types are sold, and it absoloutely perfect to call this beauty a little sister of the S-Class. The new generation has become even longer and wider, and has recieved a spurt in terms of technological advancments. In terms of length it measures 5089 mm, and 1508 mm in height, and the wheelbase has gone up by 15 mm, now reaching 3094 mm.
Additionally, the new E-Class features chunkier LED headlamps that look much more attractive than before. The front grille now boasts tiny three-pointed star elements and a larger Mercedes-Benz logo in the center. While the sides remain largely unchanged, they now include seamless door handles similar to those found in the S-Class. The rear profile has become bolder, with larger taillights that incorporate a three-point star brake light. The bumper and chrome trim remain the same.
Mercedes Benz E Class - Interior
The new interior of the (W124) E-Class features not just two but three screens, and the overall design is quite identical to the Mercedes Benz EQS. Talking more about the interior, the steering wheel is same as the one we have seen in the S-Class, but all other things are taken from EQS. Maybe this decision is taken because, recently, Mercedes put out, that they will stop making EQS, and an electric S-Class will come with the same body style.
Talking more about the features, there is MBUX (Mercedes infotainment system), 4-zone climate control, power-operated seats with massaging and ventilation functions. Theres also a panoramic sunroof, 64-color ambient lighting, a Burmester 4D sound system, and sunshades. Expect everything from drive modes to a wireless charging pad and air suspension.
Engine Options and Expected Price
In the current generation, three engines are offered: one petrol and two diesel. The most popular is the 2.0L turbocharged petrol engine, which produces 197 hp and 320 Nm of torque and comes with a 9G-Tronic gearbox. This powertrain is labeled as the E 200. The other two are the E 220d and E 350d, both diesel, offering significantly more torque and power. It is likely that these engines will return in the newer model with a 48-volt hybrid system, which we have seen in newer Mercedes models. This system not only increases power but also enhances efficiency. The new model is expected to cost around Rs 80 lakh and go up to Rs 90 lakh ex-showroom.

Verdict
The Mercedes-Benz E-Class is the top-selling car from the three-pointed star brand, and its next generation, with its bolder looks and elegant design, will surely carry its legacy forward. The expected price ranges from Rs 80 to 90 lakh, and, as always, it will significantly impact BMW 5 Series sales. Other rivals like the Lexus ES and Audi A6 can't compete with the E-Class and have become largely irrelevant in recent times. With the new generation on the way, these rivals need to brace themselves before the storm hits.
