Skoda Kushaq, Slavia Facelifts To Get ADAS
Level 2 autonomous driver assistance systems (ADAS) are currently available on midsize sedans such as the Honda City and Hyundai Verna, as well as midsize SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and Honda Elevate. However, Skoda's midsize models currently lack this feature, but plans are underway to rectify this in the near future. Janeba elaborated, stating, "With regards to ADAS 2.0, we will gradually introduce this technology with the facelifts across the entire MQB A0-IN platform."
This suggests that the forthcoming Skoda compact SUV, which shares the same platform and is part of the company's India 2.5 strategy, is expected to incorporate an ADAS suite upon its launch in March 2025. Given that compact SUVs like the Hyundai Venue and Kia Sonet already offer this technology, Skoda will not be starting behind in this segment.
New Features With Facelifts Of Kushaq And Slavia
Janeba acknowledged that Skoda faces a challenge in catching up with competitors like Hyundai and Kia, who already offer advanced safety features such as ADAS even in their compact SUVs. He mentioned that as part of the company's India 2.5 initiative, both the Kushaq and Slavia will be equipped with a 360-degree camera, along with other premium features.

Furthermore, Janeba emphasized that Skoda's focus will be on delivering superior driving dynamics. He stated, "While our initial offerings may not feature an extensive array of amenities, we closely monitor market trends and our competitors' strategies. We aim to provide competitive packaging and pricing compared to our key rivals in the segment."
The facelifts are expected to launch towards towards the end of 2024 or early 2025 and along with these introductions, you can expect a slight bump in the price as well.
Verdict
This move by the brand is a much-needed update keeping in mind the current market dynamics in mind. While in the beginning ADAS was simply a premium feature, it has now become an obvious addition with newly launched vehicles in their higher end trims. However, expect a little bump in the price tag that generally accompanies these tech-laden updates.
