If there's one power-packed sedan in a budget then it is the Skoda Rapid and now the carmakers have updated the sportier Onyx and Monte Carlo variants. Yes, the updates include exteriors and interiors changes thus giving the variants a more aggressive look.

Skoda Rapid comes in six variants - Rider, Rider Plus, Ambition, Onyx, Style and Monte Carlo. Speaking of the changes in the Onyx then it now gets a chrome grille surround. It gets the signature butterfly-styled grille. It also gets body side moulding, ORVM silver caps, front lip spoiler, silver roof and blacked-out alloy wheels. The interiors get Tellur Grey upholstery.

The Onyx variant is available in two colour schemes - Candy White and Lapiz Blue. Sharing info on the Monte Carlo variant then it gets a black diffuser at the rear, black side skirting, black ORVMs, boot spoiler and new alloy wheels design. The Monte Carlo variant is available in three colour schemes - Candy White, Brilliant Silver and Flash Red.
Under the hood, the Skoda Rapid gets a 1.0-litre, turbocharged, three-cylinder BS6 compliant engine. This unit generates 110 PS with a peak torque of 175 Nm. A 6-speed manual gearbox comes as a standard and for the automatic, a 6-speed torque converter is an option.

The Onyx variant of the Skoda Rapid is priced at Rs 10.20 lakh for the manual and Rs 11.70 for the AT while the Monte Carlo manual costs Rs 12 lakh and the AT is priced at Rs 13.30 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. The base Rider variant of the Rapid starts from as low as Rs 7.80 lakh. It competes with the likes of Maruti Ciaz, Hyundai Verna, Honda City, Toyota Yaris and Volkswagen Vento.
