The Tiago has been one of the most popular Tata cars of recent times. In fact, the small car even helped the carmaker establish in the A2-segment of the car market after the Indica was pulled off the shelves. The affordable small car comes across as a pretty well-sorted model that looks good, has a fairly spacious interior and even offers a pretty good ride quality. However, the Tiago is approaching the fag end of its career. While a Nexon-like Dark Edition is highly speculated to be in the pipeline, we have learnt that the carmaker has no such plans.
A source who wishes anonymity has informed us that Tata Motors prefers not to extend the Dark Edition treatment to its budget offering. Currently, this all-black colour scheme is available on the Altroz, Nexon and Harrier. The special versions of these models come with a black paint finish along with piano-black trim instead of the chrome elements on the Humanity Line and around the fog lamps.

Moreover, even the dual-tone alloy wheels have made way for black-painted rims. A similar colour theme is found in the cabin with black panels and black upholstery. As can be seen in the rendering above, the Tata Tiago Dark Edition would actually impress with its styling but it looks like this is the closest we'll ever get to having the full black edition of the Maruti Celerio-rival.
Currently, the Tata Tiago is on sale in five colour options - Flame Red, Arizona Blue, Pearlescent White, Daytona Grey and Pure Grey. The top-spec version includes a 7-inch ConnectNext infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Harman audio unit with four speakers, automatic climate control, height adjustment for driver's seat, cooled glovebox and tilt adjustment for the steering wheel.

While the Tata Tiago was earlier available with both petrol and diesel engine options, it's now available only with a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine that outputs 86 PS and 113 Nm. The motor comes paired with a 5-speed manual transmission as standard and a 5-speed AMT as optional. Safety equipment on offer includes dual front airbags, rear parking sensors, ABS with EBD, corner stability control, rear defogger, and front and rear fog lamps.
