2025 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado
Unlike its previous generations, the new Land Cruiser Prado bears a more retro-themed design, inspired by the older J60 models from the 1960s. The new Prado is underpinned by the GA-F platform, which is shared with the Land Cruiser LC300, and it also continues with the good old ladder-frame chassis setup. At 4925mm, the new Prado is marginally shorter than the Land Cruiser LC300. However, both cars share the same 2850mm wheelbase.

Toyota says this frame is 50% more rigid than before, and overall rigidity has gone up by 30%. It also comes with a stabilizer disconnect mechanism for the first time, which allows you to disconnect the front stabilizer bar depending on whether you're driving the car on the road or off-road. A full-time 4x4 with a limited-slip differential courtesy of Torsen is also present here.
Some other improvements have been made in terms of wheel articulation, the functionality of the multi-terrain modes, and the multi-terrain monitor. There are six terrain modes to choose from, and the multi-terrain monitor gives you the option of an 'underfloor view' for both the front and rear wheels, as well as a 'back underfloor view;, which shows you a magnified image of the area left around the rear wheels while reversing.
Available with petrol, diesel, and hybrid powertrains globally, Toyota is yet to confirm which one the India-spec model will receive under its hood. However, this is the first time that the Land Cruiser Prado receives a hybrid option globally.

In terms of features, the new Prado comes with a 12-inch touch screen infotainment setup, along with a modern twin-dial instrument cluster setup, an ADAS suite consisting of adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, a pre-collision system, cross-traffic alerts and so on.
We can expect an official announcement from Toyota in the coming months, with more clear details about the powertrains and other things.
Verdict
The Land Cruiser Prado used to be on sale here for a long period of time, and it's now set to make a comeback. We do not expect it to be affordable, and we are certain Toyota is not looking for mass volumes with this car either.
