Triumph Daytona 660: Return of Iconic Sports Bike
The Daytona brand name is iconic in itself. Globally renowned for its superior performance and reliable engine, the Daytona was discontinued in India long ago. Triumph India has already listed the bike on the official website indicating a soon launch. The new bike gets curvy yet sharp styling, while the engine is going to be a modest 660cc inline-three-cylinder unit. This is the same powertrain that is shared by the Trident 660 and Tiger Sport 660.
With that said, Daytona lovers in India are eagerly waiting for it. The downsizing of the engine doesn't mean that its performance will be compromised. It'll become a more practical and daily commuter sports bike than ever. The smaller engine and revised, comfortable sitting posture will ensure enhanced practicality.
Triumph will equip it with the best of features, like a TFT console, Bluetooth connectivity, etc. However, all of these details will be revealed as we approach launch time. The possible price bracket for it will be around Rs 9 lakh, as its rivals like the Aprilia RS 660, the upcoming Yamaha R7, the Honda CBR650R, and the Kawasaki Ninja 650 are more or less similarly priced.
Verdict
Triumph Daytona has been loved for its supersport character all these years. However, this new shift in design and engine downsize will be a bit tricky for the Daytona lovers. We're looking forward to ride this amazing machine soon. Triumph's expanding portfolio and Daytona's legacy shall be continued or not; will only be known once it land on Indian shores.
