So far, the only real competition that the all-conquering Honda Activa has ever faced has come from the TVS Jupiter. And now, after having enjoyed success with the Jupiter 110, TVS Motor Company has launched the Jupiter 125. As is obvious, the new model goes on to lock horns with the Honda Activa 125 and even offers many improvements over its 110cc sibling.
TVS Jupiter 125 Design & Features
As is the case with the lower version, the TVS Jupiter 125 has a clean and rather simplistic design that should have a universal appeal. The front apron carries some bold creases, while even the side panels feature a similarly crisp crease that adds a bit of dynamism to the scooters profile. Upfront, the Jupiter 125 carries a LED headlamp along with huge turn indicators positioned on the apron.

The new model is sufficiently feature-laden for its price. It comes with idle start-stop system that plays a part with enhancing the frugality, while other niceties include a side stand engine cut-off and a USB charging socket. The semi-digital instrument console looks pretty cool and offers read-outs for the clock, fuel level, average fuel consumption and real-time fuel consumption.
Compared to the 110cc model, the new Jupiter offers a new seat that is 65 mm longer, while the seat height has been set to 765 mm. The scooter even offers a best-in-segment underseat storage space of 32-litre. Also, the fuel-filler cap has been positioned at the front, behind the apron.
TVS Jupiter 125 Price & Specifications
Prices of the TVS Jupiter 125 start at Rs 73,400*, while the mid-spec version that features alloy wheels and drum brakes costs Rs 76,800*. The fully-loaded model costs Rs 81,300* and features a disc brake up front. Other than the Honda Activa 125 new scooter even goes on to rival the likes of Yamaha Fascino and Suzuki Access.
Powering the TVS Jupiter 125 is an all-new 124.8cc single-cylinder engine that outputs a maximum power of 8.3 hp at 6,000 rpm and a peak torque of 10.5Nm at 4,500 rpm. Akin to the engine, the chassis is all-new, too. The suspension duties are handled by telescopic forks upfront and a gas-charged shock absorber at the rear. Braking is courtesy a 220 mm disc brake at the front and a 130 mm drum at the rear. However, its worth a mention here that the base model features drum brakes at both ends.
Colours
The four colour options on offer include - Dawn Orange, Indiblue, Pristine White and Titanium Grey.
