1. Design

TVS X

The thing that grabs your attention is the design as it departs from the conventional approach. The scooter flaunts a bold design language highlighted by a distinctive pill-shaped LED daytime running light (DRL) accompanied by two square-shaped LED headlight units on either side. Embracing a maxi-scooter aesthetic, it boasts a central spine and intentionally exposes portions of the Xleton frame, contributing to its robust character. The X also gets a split-seat setup, which is not what you see very frequently on a scooter

2. Hardware

The TVS X comes with an advanced X-tilt handlebar, featuring twin RSU telescopic forks in the front suspension and a cast swingarm with a single-sided mono-shock unit in the rear. Both the front and rear wheels are 12 inches in size, adorned with a 100-section front tire and a 110-section rear tire. Furthermore, the braking system comprises a 220mm front disc and a 190mm rear disc. Notably, the TVS X claims the title of being India's first electric scooter to feature ABS.

3. Features

The TVS X gets a substantial 10.25-inch TFT display that offers adjustable positioning for optimal rider comfort. This expansive display is loaded with an array of features, including Bluetooth connectivity that facilitates music playback and navigation notifications. Interestingly, when stationary, the PlayTech entertainment system allows users to indulge in watching videos or playing games on the display. Additionally, the X boasts reverse assist, cruise control, and a hill-hold function for added convenience. This takes us to the 4th point.

4. Battery, Range, And Performance

TVS X

An intriguing aspect of the TVS X is its innovative Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM), which employs ram-air cooling. TVS asserts that the X can accelerate from a standstill to 40kph in a mere 2.6 seconds and boasts a maximum speed of 105kph. The scooter introduces three distinct riding modes: Xtealth, Xtride, and Xonic. Additionally, it offers regenerative braking with various selectable levels. The electric range as advertised by the brand stands at 140 km.

5. Price, Booking, And Early Bird Freebies Of Rs. 18,000

With a price tag of Rs 2.50 lakh, the TVS X holds the distinction of being the most expensive e-scooter available in the market today. Bookings are already underway and the deliveries of the TVS X kick off in November 2023. While it starts in Bengaluru, it will gradually expand across India by March 2024. Early birds among the first 2,000 buyers get a complimentary Smartwatch and a 'Curated Concierge' package, together valued at Rs 18,000.

Verdict

TVS's game-changing X electric scooter redefines the segment with its premium features and dynamic design. Priced at Rs 2.50 lakh, it stands out as the market's costliest e-scooter. Boasting cutting-edge technologies like a 10.25-inch TFT display and diverse riding modes, the X promises an exceptional riding experience. Despite missing the FAME-II subsidy, its remarkable performance, distinctive cooling system, and added features like reverse assist and cruise control set it apart.
