Bajaj Chetak Scooter New Variant: What Are The Changes?
The leaked photos of the new variant seem to be taken inside a dealership yard. The bright sky blue colour looks charming and hints that it'll be available in new colour shades. Moreover, it lacks essential features as compared to the other variants. It has black steel wheels with drum brakes. Also, the digital instrument console is a negative monochrome display unit. The keyhole is also replaced with a conventional design for cost-cutting.
While the battery pack details are unknown, we suspect it'll get a reduced range and performance. The current base model comes with a 2.9kWh battery pack with a 113 km IDC range. This is for the Urbane variant. However, this new version will be positioned below the Urbane. Therefore, its range could be somewhere around 80-100 km.
The current range of Chetak starts at Rs 1.23 lakh (ex-showroom). But, with fewer features and less range, the new base version could be placed well below the Rs 1 lakh tag. If so, it'll rival the Ather 450S and the Ola S1 Air. Its expected launch timeline is in May.
