Tata Curvv EV
After thorough road testing, the Curvv EV seems ready to hit the market this month. This will be the first vehicle from Tata, and indeed from any of its competitors, to feature a coupe SUV body type. The Curvv EV is a unique offering from Tata and one of the most anticipated upcoming car, set to compete with the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara, and Kia Seltos.
While complete specifications are yet to be released, we expect the Curvv EV to come with a 40 to 50 kWh battery pack, offering a range of 400 to 500 km. Additionally, it is expected to feature a panoramic sunroof, an infotainment screen, and much more.
Nissan X-trail
It's high time for Nissan to launch its new car in India. Currently, all the burden is on the Nissan Magnite, but the X-Trail has the potential to boost sales for the brand. Previously, the X-Trail was a hot shot in the Indian market from 2004 to 2009. This SUV, fully covered in camouflage, has been spotted several times, and I believe it will launch in India this month or next.
Hyundai Alcazar Facelift
Hyundai launched the facelift version of the Creta in early 2024, which received a thunderous response from auto experts and the audience. Evidently, it's time for the revival of the Alcazar. This upcoming 7-seater has been spotted numerous times during testing.
The Alcazar not only offers more seats than the Creta but also provides a more premium feel, with dual-tone interiors, additional features, a chrome-finished grille, and other styling updates. It will be exciting to see what Hyundai has to offer this time for this upcoming SUV.
Mercedes Benz EQA
The fourth addition to the EQ brand soon coming to India is the EQA, a subcompact SUV based on the GLA platform. Internationally, it offers two motor options. The first is a single motor that produces 188 horsepower and powers the front wheels.
The second is an all-wheel-drive powertrain with 268 horsepower. Most likely, the Indian version will have the same configurations. The estimated price of the EQA in India will range from Rs 46 lakh to Rs 60 lakh, depending on the model.
BMW 5 Series LWB
The 5 Series will now get a Long Wheelbase (LWB) version, similar to the 3 Series, as the company aims to change its marketing strategy. They want customers to view the 5 Series as a more affordable alternative to the 7 Series, rather than just a larger model compared to the 3 Series.
This is a great step because the E-Class (Competitor), which comes with LWB as standard only in India, has become Mercedes' highest-selling product of all time. Additionally, BMW has confirmed that upcoming 5 Series will launch on July 27th.
Mini Cooper
The 5-door Mini Cooper was recently revealed, showcasing updated styling and featuring only petrol engine options, as Mini has dropped its diesel variant. The standard petrol engine is a 1.5L 3-cylinder producing 156 hp. There is also a second engine option, a 2.0L engine with 204 hp and a top speed of 255 km/h.
Pre-booking for this premium hatchback is currently open, and Mini plans to start delivering these cars in July.
Mini Countryman Electric
The new Countryman Electric is based on the BMW iX1, the electric version of the X1. It's significantly larger than the outgoing Countryman, and Mini has done a stupendous job creating an evolutionary design that seamlessly blends the past with the future.
The Countryman EV will feature a dual-motor setup delivering 300 bhp and around 500 Nm of torque. We expect this EV to debut around the end of July.
Verdict
Indeed, it's an exciting time as we anticipate the arrival of numerous new cars in the seventh month of 2024. However, when it comes to luxury brands, India often receives their products last. For instance, models like the BMW 5 Series and Mercedes Benz EQA have been on sale for over a year elsewhere before reaching us.
This delay reflects the industry's approach to the Indian market. That being said, I'm super excited to witness the Tata Curvv EV launch in India.
