Based on the top-end ZX variant, the hybrid car will use the same 1.5-Lt, 4-cylinder, i-VTEC petrol engine but with the support of an electric motor, the power will bump from 98 Hp to 109 Hp. This electric motor will also make the new car to be more fuel-efficient than the 'regular' ICE-powered City petrol engine. The electric motor is expected to help the new hybrid City to achieve fuel efficiency closer to ARAI-claimed 30 kmpl as anticipated.
Honda will offer 3 different driving modes in the hybrid car - a pure electric mode, petrol-only mode, and hybrid mode. Honda engineers have combined the electric motor and generators which work together to power the electric motor hence assisting the engine to achieve more efficiency. The generator is powered via the engine itself. The Li-ion battery is placed underneath the boot of the new hybrid car. Transmission will be a CVT which is already tested and proven in the ICE-powered car.

The overall design and features will remain the same while a small badge of 'HEV' will be stuck on the boot to differentiate the car from a regular petrol engine-powered car. Honda has also embedded the 'Honda Sensing' tech which is basically the ADAS (Automated Driver Assist System) in the new hybrid sedan.
