Volkswagen Taigun: 1 Lakh Units Sold In Three Years!

Three years ago, Volkswagen launched its first product built on the MQB-A0-IN platform. Ever since then, the Volkswagen Taigun has become one of the key contenders in the mid-size SUV segment. The German car maker has now announced it has sold 1 lakh units of the Taigun, including both exports and imports.

Ever since its launch in 2021, Volkswagen has sold a total of 67,140 units of the Taigun in the domestic market, while 32,742 units were exported. These figures count upto the end of August 2024, and the initial dispatches in the month of September 2024. The Taigun's domestic sales performance peaked in the 2023 financial year, with 21,736 units sold. As for exports, the numbers peaked in the 2024 financial year, with 12,621 units.

However, as of the current financial year, the domestic sales figures stand at 8,030 units, while 9,312 units have been exported. There are also rumours going around Volkswagen looking for an alliance partner in the Indian market, which we shall report more about subject to further details.

The Taigun has been an option for those who prioritize driving pleasure over other things in the mid-size SUV segment. It was also rated as one of the safest cars in its segment, with a 5-star rating as per the updated GNCAP crash test norms. Volkswagen has also been offering discounts on the Taigun, along with the roll-out of special initiatives such as Volksfest.

Verdict

The Taigun may not offer as many features as the Hyundai Creta and the Kia Seltos, but it does offer wireless smartphone connectivity, which is more practical. Of course, the Taigun focuses on delivering driving thrills more than anything, but the number of features that it packs in, they work quite well too.
