Maruti Suzuki Jimny EV render has surfaced over the internet. Although, just a render, will it ever launch? We tell you below.
On one side, the never-ending wait for Maruti Suzuki to launch Jimny keeps getting longer; on the other hand, a new render shows an all-electric version of it. While the Indian market has still not gotten the sweet taste of the Jimny, a render video has surfaced on YouTube where the designer has imagined a Maruti Suzuki Jimny EV avatar.
The Jimny is a little boxy SUV from Suzuki which is sold in various global markets. Due to its lightweight cabin, compact dimensions, and good power-to-weight ratio, it is widely praised for its off-road capabilities. Powered by a tested & reliable 1462cc, VVT petrol engine. This produces a peak power of 100 hp & 130 Nm of peak torque. Suzuki offers a 5-speed manual & a 4-speed torque converter automatic gearbox for the Jimny. While the global markets enjoy the Jimny, the reluctance for EVs has also grown. Although, there are no official words Suzuki might be developing an electric Jimny currently.
To give us a taste of what this electric Jimny can look like, the render images help very well. The front design now hosts horizontal LED headlights that have replaced the conventional circular headlights of the ICE-powered Jimny. The front grille has also been redesigned to comply with the futuristic EV design. With the bumper now revamped, it endorses vertical LED DRLs and bash plate as well. To accommodate a more aerodynamic approach, the front grille has also been closed to an extent. The body colour also suits the EV approach with a Mint Green shade. Similarly, to retain the SUV's rugged profile, the alloy wheels are machined blacked-out in contrast. The wheel arches also seem to be redesigned.

While the current production version of Jimny even does not embrace a full-hybrid system; we suspect that Maruti Suzuki will work over an electrified version of Jimny. As the Japanese ideology goes 'Why replace it if it is not broken?'; the current Jimny is doing just fine. Although, the rendered images portray the use of a Li-ion battery and motor pack which can push the Jimny EV up to a range of 300-400 km on a single full charge. We think that this render is very nice, but, it's very hard for a Jimny EV to surface in nearby time as well. But yes, Maruti Suzuki is developing a 5-door version of Jimny for sure which is anticipated to debut sometime this year.
