MH-17 RTO Driving License Types

Learners License

Learners Licence is the first step towards getting a permanent driving license. It is issued to individuals who are new to driving and are yet to master the art of driving. To obtain a Learners Licence in Shrirampur RTO, one needs to follow the following steps:

  • Choose the concerned state.
  • Click on "Application for New Learners License" from the "Learner's License" menu.

Temporary License

Temporary Licence is issued to a vehicle owner when the vehicle is brand new and is yet to be permanently registered.   • Provide copies of Sale Certificate, Insurance Certificate, and Road worthiness Certificate.
  • Pay tax and fee as specified in Central Motor Vehicle Rules 1989 for temporary registration.

For extension of temporary registration, the vehicle owner needs to:

  • Apply for an extension to the Registering Authority by specifying the reason and period of extension.
  • Pay fee and tax for extension as specified in Rule 81 of Central Motor Vehicle Rules 1989.
  • Submit required documents like sales certificate, roadworthiness certificate, pollution under control certificate, proof of address, and design approval copy of STA (in case of Trailer or Semi-Trailer).
  • Obtaining a driving licence can be a hassle, but it's essential to follow the correct procedure to ensure the safety of oneself and others on the road.

Permanent license

Getting a permanent driving license in India is now easier with the facility of online slot booking for the test of competence. Follow these simple steps:

  • Visit the official website of Sarathi Parivahan.
  • Select your state.
  • Click on "New Driving License" from the "Driving License" menu.
  • Enter your learning license number and date of birth to proceed further.
  • Fill up the application form.
  • Click on the "Next" button to proceed.
  • Schedule an appointment for the test of competence online or at the RTO office.
  • Bring original documents and fee slip to the RTO office on the scheduled date.

Here's the complete procedure:

  • Schedule an appointment for the test of competence online or at the RTO office.
  • Fill up an application in Form 4, for a permanent driving license along with the learners' license obtained for such class of vehicle.
  • The applicant who has held a valid Learners' License, for a period of at least 30 days, shall be competent to appear for the test of competence.
  • The test of competence will be conducted by the competent authority.
  • Bring a vehicle of the type to which the application relates.
  • Satisfy the officer conducting the test regarding your capability to drive the vehicle and your ability to perform the tasks specified in Rule-15(2) of the CMVR.
  • If you pass the test of competence successfully, a driving license will be issued and sent through a speed post to the address furnished.
  • Pay the fees as prescribed along with user charges.
  • Now that you know the steps involved, getting a permanent driving license is just a few clicks away. So, don't hesitate to schedule an appointment and hit the road!

International License

Are you planning to drive internationally? You may need an International Driving Permit (IDP) which is recognized in over 150 countries. Heres what you need to know to get one:

  • Download the application forms - Form 4A and Form 1A - from the website of the Ministry of Road Transport And Highways.
  • Fill out the forms and provide details of your driving license, identity and residential proof.
  • Submit the necessary documents along with the forms to your nearest RTO.
  • Take a driving test if required by the RTO.
  • Pay the fee of 91,000 at the time of submitting the documents.

After following these simple steps, your application will be successful and you will receive your IDP in 4 to 5 business days.

If youre not comfortable with the online application process, you can still visit your nearest RTO to fill out the forms, pay the fees and submit the necessary documents. The RTO will translate your license into an international one.

Requirements for IDP:
