Vehicle Registration at RTO UP-16: A step-by-step process and charges involved

The vehicle registration process at the RTO UP-16 office goes by the following steps:

  1. Application: The vehicle owner fills out the registration application form.
  2. Inspection: Inspects the vehicle for safety standards.
  3. Payment: The vehicle owner pays the required fees for registration.
  4. RC Issuance: Issues registration certificate (RC) to vehicle owner where the safety standards are met and fees are paid.

The vehicle registration charges at the RTO UP-16 office are as follows:

  1. Two-wheeler (up to 50cc): Rs. 60
  2. Two-wheeler (above 50cc): Rs. 300
  3. Four-wheeler (non-transport): Rs. 600
  4. Four-wheeler (transport): Rs. 1000

Transfer and Renewal Process of Vehicle Ownership

The transfer of vehicle ownership process goes by the following steps:

  • Fill out and submit the transfer of ownership application form.
  • Verify the documents related to the vehicle i.e. registration, insurance, and pollution certificates.
  • Pay the required fees for the transfer of ownership.
  • Issuing a new registration certificate with the new owner's name after verifying documents and receiving fees.
  • Transfer of ownership is necessary for selling/ gifting a vehicle to update the new owner's name.

The vehicle owners need to renew their vehicle registration certificate every five years at the RTO UP-16 office. The process goes by the following steps:

  1. The vehicle owner fills renewal application form and submits it to the office.
  2. Verifies vehicle-related documents i.e. registration, insurance, and pollution certificates.
  3. The vehicle owner pays the required fees for the renewal of registration.
  4. Issues new registration certificate valid for 5 years after verifying documents and receiving fees.
