The biggest difference between the 2023 Pulsar N160 and the 2024 model lies in the instrument cluster. Previously, the Pulsar N160 had a semi-digital instrument cluster that lacked Bluetooth connectivity. Now, the new 2024 Pulsar N160 features a fully digital instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity, offering call and SMS alerts, turn-by-turn navigation, and app connectivity.

Other features like the USB port, LED headlamp, and LED taillamp remain the same as before, but the upgrade in the instrument cluster makes the new model feel more modern and connected.

Bajaj Pulsar N160: Old Vs New - Whats New In The Switchgear Setup?

When comparing the old and new Pulsar N160 models, one subtle change is the switchgear setup. On the new Pulsar N160, the left switchgear now integrates the high beam, low beam, and pass light functions into one unit, allowing you to control them with different motions.

In contrast, the old Pulsar N160 had a single switch dedicated only to the pass function. Additionally, below this new switch, you'll find a mode button that lets you toggle through settings on the digital cluster. Meanwhile, the right handlebar retains its original setup with the engine kill, engine start, indicator switch, and other controls.

The suspension has seen some noticeable updates. In the old N160 model, it featured a traditional telescopic front suspension, but now it comes with an upside-down front suspension, offering improved handling and stability. However, the rear suspension remains the same, continuing with the mono-shock setup, paired with Nitro technology for a smoother and more comfortable ride.

Bajaj Pulsar N160: Old Vs New - Has The Power Increased?

The new Pulsar N160 retains the same powertrain as the previous model. It still features a 164.82cc single-cylinder, 4-stroke engine with a single overhead camshaft (SOHC), two valves, and oil cooling. This engine produces 15.7 bhp and 14.65 Nm of torque, which is transmitted through a 5-speed gearbox. The changes are minimal, as the core engine specifications and performance remain the same.

Bajaj Pulsar N160: Old Vs New - Same Brakes, New ABS Modes

The braking system hasnt changed much, still featuring dual-channel ABS with a 300mm disc at the front and a 230mm disc at the rear. However, it now includes three ABS modes: Road, Rain, and Off-Road. Both wheels remain 17 inches in size, with 100/80 tyres at the front and 130/70 tyres at the rear. This upgrade adds more versatility to handle different riding conditions.

Verdict

The new Pulsar N160 finally brings the long-awaited upgrades, including enhanced connectivity and USD forks, which should have been introduced earlier. This model is ideal for those who value advanced features and a better riding experience. However, if connectivity isn't a priority for you and you're satisfied with the existing features, the older model remains a viable option.
