Hyundai Creta EV
This electric version of India's favourite and highest selling compact SUV, retains the orginal styling, but does several enhancements to improve its aerodynamics and aesthetic appeal. For instance, check out its pixelated graphic front-grille with integerated charging port. Its port position is completely in the middle, and it also has a battery charging indicator. Above that, you'll find the main camera for the 360-degree view.
This styling element appears neat and make this car front end look elegant. Below, the bumper is completely different and features some innovative technology to improve the drag reduction.
I am talking about the active air flaps placed above the silver skid plate, which open when the car's battery temperature is high and needs to be lowered. Also, at high-speed driving, they remain closed to minimize airflow that could disturb the aerodynamics.
If you take a closer look at the wheels, you'll notice how large the alloy spokes are. That's because they are 17-inch low rolling resistance tyres, designed to minimize energy loss as the wheels move with minimal power. As a result, the range doesn't decrease easily.
The side profile doesn't have much to mention, except for a silver skid plate running across the vehicle. Now, when it comes to the rear end of the Creta EV, it's hard to point out details that differentiate it from the regular Creta. The only special features are the 'electric' badging and the reflectors positioned horizontally. Lastly, the bumper has been redesigned, featuring pixelated graphics.
Interior of Hyundai Creta EV
Creta EV interior is a step ahead from ICE as the premium quotient is doubled and the storage area has expanded, as there is no gear lever here. So, the central console offers generous amount of space for wireless charging where from photos it seems that even a pro max phones will easily fit inside. Also, the middle area is the home for buttons like electronic parking brake with auto hold, front ventialted seats, 360-view and drive mode selector. Lastly, its design is cuted out in a very neat and clean curve shape, which reminds us of luxury germans cars.
Since there is no gearbox, the Shift-by-Wire system, placed behind the steering wheel, is used to switch between drive and reverse. Now, onto the biggest change: the steering wheel, taken from international Hyundai electric cars. It's very simple in terms of design but packs all the buttons to control media and ADAS functions.
In the last segment, the back seat, the Creta EV takes a big step by offering foldable tables on both sides, along with Bose Mode buttons for the rear left passenger. To improve rear legroom, the front passenger seat can be moved forward electronically with the press of a button. The last thing to mention is the 16W charging socket, allowing passengers to quickly charge their larger devices, like laptops.

Verdict
There is a lot riding on the Creta EV, as it carries the nameplate of India's most popular SUV, which is purchased by an average of 12,000 customers. The range figures are decent, but not quite on par with what rivals are offering. However, the real test will be how well the battery performs once we drive it fully. Now, everyone is waiting for its reveal at the Bharat Mobility Show 2025. Let's see how it performs in real life.
