Triumph Motorcycles India has launched a new version of its Speed 400 motorcycle called the Triumph Speed T4. The new Speed T4 comes with the same engine but gets toned-down hardware and features to make it more affordable. Triumph Speed T4 Vs Speed 400 - Design
The design of both motorcycles is similar. The T4 & the Speed 400 get a round-shaped LED headlamp setup with LED DRLs, an all-black treatment on the sides, and a sculpted fuel tank with interesting graphics among other design elements. The seat design, rear tail lamp design, and some other things are similar in both bikes.
The difference in design is visible in front as the Speed 400 gets golden USD forks but the Speed T4 gets conventional telescopic front forks. Also, the colour options on both bikes are different. The Speed T4 is available in 3 colour options and the Speed 400 gets 4 colour options.

Triumph Speed T4 Vs Speed 400 - Engine
The new Speed T4 gets the same 398.15cc liquid-cooled engine. The brand has detuned this engine for less power and torque and more efficiency for the Speed T4. The difference in power and torque figure is given below.

The brand has detuned the engine for the T4 to make it more efficient and relaxing to ride. It is made for relaxed riders who don't want an exhilarating performance. Moreover, the brand claims that the engine has become 10-15 percent more efficient.
Triumph Speed T4 Vs Speed 400 - Hardware
To make the Speed T4 more affordable the brand has replaced some hardware components with affordable hardware equipment. The Speed T4 gets conventional telescopic forks compared to the USD forks in the Speed 400. Moreover, the tyre profile is smaller than the Speed 400 and gets MRF tyres. On the other hand, the Speed 400 gets high-profile 17-inch Vredestein tyres.
Also, the Triumph Speed 400 gets X-ring chain while the T4 gets a 39 teeth O ring chain drive system. Braking duties on both bikes are handled by a 300mm front and a 230 mm rear disc brake aided with dual-channel ABS.
Triumph Speed T4 Vs Speed 400 - Features
Both motorcycles get a semi-digital instrument cluster, hazard lamp, LED headlamp with DRL, dual-channel ABS, switchable ABS, USB-C charging socket, among other features. Moreover, the Speed 400 gets some additional features such as a Traction Control System (TCS). Apart from this, these two are almost similar in terms of features.

Verdict
The newly launched Triumph Speed T4 is a more affordable version of the Triumph Speed 400. The brand is aiming more customers with the affordable option. The drop in power and torque figures is not much, but for someone who needs enthusiastic performance, it might be less. The brand is aiming to hit on rivals like the Hero Mavrick 440 and other with the affordable starting price for the Modern Classic Series.
