Design and Build Quality
One glance at the 2024 TVS Apache RR 310 and it's clear that its aggressive and aerodynamic styling remains its strongest suit. The bike retains its sporty full-fairing design with sharp angles, twin-LED projector headlights, and a sleek rear tail section. The updated paint schemes, winglets, and transparent clutch cover add a refreshing touch without deviating from its racing DNA.
The build quality of the Apache RR 310 is something that I can call the best in the segment as it has excellent attention to detail. The panels fit seamlessly, and the overall finish feels premium. In addition, the TVS has introduced new graphics options that accentuate the bike's sporty character.
Engine and Performance
Powering the 2024 Apache RR 310 is the same 312.2cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine co-developed with BMW. The engine delivers 37.48 bhp at 9,800 rpm and 29 Nm of torque at 7,900 rpm, paired with a 6-speed gearbox featuring a bi-directional quick-shifter.
TVS has fine-tuned the engine mapping to ensure smoother throttle response and better low-end torque delivery. The new tuning has increased power figures which are now up by 3 bhp and 2 Nm. This makes the bike more versatile, both on the track and in urban settings.
The top-end performance is exhilarating, with the Apache RR 310 capable of reaching a top speed of 160 km/h. Acceleration is brisk, and the bike feels most alive when pushed to the highest mark. On the track, its linear power delivery and high-revving nature is real fun which makes it a formidable contender in its class.
Ride Modes and Electronics
The 2024 Apache RR 310 continues to offer four riding modes: Rain, Urban, Sport, and Track. These modes can be utilized to alter the engine's power delivery, ABS intervention, and throttle response to suit varying conditions. If you want to get the most out of this machine, track mode is the key as it offers sharper throttle inputs and reduced ABS intrusion, making it ideal for track enthusiasts.
The electronics suite includes a 5-inch TFT instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity. The display is intuitive and provides detailed information, including turn-by-turn navigation, gear position indicator, lap timer, and lean angle data. Most of the connectivity functions can be used via the TVS's proprietary SmartXonnect system which also allows riders to customize ride parameters via a mobile app.
Handling and Dynamics
One of the strongest aspects of the Apache RR 310 has always been its handling and the latest iteration continues to shine in this regard. The 2024 RR 310 is built on a trellis frame which provides it with excellent rigidity and stability. The 41mm USD front forks and a preload-adjustable mono-shock at the rear are sourced from KYB and do their job precisely.
On the track, the Apache RR 310 feels planted with precise cornering abilities and minimal body roll. TVS has also improved the suspension tuning which adds to its versatile character. But there is no escape in saying that the overall comfort is still not the best in class and suspension still feels stiff to some extent.
The Michelin Road 5 tires which were introduced in the previous update continue to offer excellent grip in both wet and dry conditions. These high-performance tyres inspire confidence whether you're leaning hard into a corner or riding on wet/rain-soaked roads.
Braking and Safety
The braking duties of the 2024 Apache RR 310 are handled by a 300mm petal disc at the front and a 240mm disc at the rear, paired with a dual-channel ABS. The braking setup provides exceptional stopping power with excellent feedback. The ABS calibration ensures safety without being so intrusive, especially in Track mode. Braking remains one of the aspects that I liked the most. The overall braking performance makes the rider feel safe white touching the red mark.
TVS has also included a slipper clutch, which prevents wheel lock-up during aggressive downshifting, a feature that is especially useful during spirited riding or track sessions.
Comfort and Ergonomics
For a sportbike, the 2024 Apache RR 310 offers commendable comfort. The split-seat design provides ample cushioning for the rider while the situation remains compromising for the pillion. The slightly raised clip-on handlebars strike a balance between aggressive and relaxed ergonomics. The footpegs are rear-set but not overly aggressive, making long rides less taxing on the rider.
TVS's unique GTT (Glide Through Traffic) technology has improved the overall heat management with better thermal insulation around the engine. Even in heavy traffic, the bike remains relatively cool, enhancing its practicality as a daily commuter. But you will surely feel the heat coming out when the bike comes to a standstill.
Fuel Efficiency
The Apache RR 310 delivers an average fuel efficiency of 30-35 km/l under mixed riding conditions. This makes it one of the more economical options in the segment, keeping its performance capabilities in mind. The 2024 RR 310 has a fuel tank capacity of 11 litres that offers a practical range of over 300 kilometres. This makes it suitable for both city commutes and highway rides.
Pricing and Value for Money
The 2024 TVS Apache RR 310 is priced at approximately Rs 2.75 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). While this positions it as a premium offering, the bike justifies its price with its extensive feature list, robust performance, and top-notch build quality. When compared to rivals like the KTM RC 390 and Kawasaki Ninja 300, the Apache RR 310 offers excellent value for money with its comprehensive electronics package and versatility.
