TVS Jupiter CNG vs Bajaj Freedom 125

TVS Jupiter 125

First, let's check out the specifications of the upcoming CNG scooter, which also happens to be the worlds first scooter running on this bi-fuel system. Now, the current details available about this vehicle indicate that it features a 1.4 kg CNG tank placed underneath the seat, along with a 2L petrol tank. TVS claims that this scooter will offer an extended range of 226 km, with a total running cost of Rs 1 per km. Additionally, TVS claims that on CNG alone, it will run up to 84 km.

Also, its main power source, the 125cc engine, produces 7.1 bhp and 9.4 Nm of torque, with a top speed of around 80.5 km/h. This scooter is still in its production stage, so by the time it launches, the specifications could change. If that happens, we will rectify them here ASAP.

Bajaj Freedom 125, now an established motorcycle is available in three variants and features 125cc engine that produces 9.5 PS and 9.7 Nm of torque, and is paired with a 5-speed transmission. Additionally, it features a 2-liter fuel tank and a 2-liter CNG tank, and can be started using either fuel option. Riders can also switch between the two power sources using a dedicated switch. The Bajaj Freedom 125 shines in terms of fuel efficiency. In CNG mode alone, the bike offers a range of 200 km, and in petrol mode, it delivers 130 km. So, in total, the Bajaj bi-fuel bike provides 330 km of total range.

Bajaj Freedom 125 CNG

So, strictly based on specifications, the Bajaj Freedom 125 is the winner, offering a 330 km range and more power. On average, it would cost Rs 1.11 for every km it travels and Rs 111 for every 100 km.

Features

The TVS Jupiter CNG was showcased at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, and it looked completely identical to the Jupiter 125 but had one major drawback. There is absolutely no storage space available because the CNG tank sits under the seat, where the gas filling nozzle is also placed, along with an analog meter displaying the fuel quantity. So, the only place to keep small items is the floorboard.

On the other hand, the Freedom 125 features a fully digital speedometer with Bluetooth connectivity, allowing the rider to receive call alerts with caller ID, missed call notifications, and battery life status. Additionally, it comes with LED lights and front disc brakes.

Price

The Bajaj Freedom 125 starts at Rs 95,000 for the drum variant and goes up to Rs 1.10 lakh for the disc LED variant. The TVS Jupiter 125 starts at Rs 88,000, with its top variant featuring SmartXonnect priced at Rs 99,000. It's fair to assume that the CNG model will start at Rs 98,000, while the top-of-the-line trim could cost around Rs 1.05 lakh. As of now, there is no concrete information regarding its launch, but we expect it to happen sometime around August - September 2025.

Verdict

Now, this comparison may be too early, but it provides a clear picture of which two-wheeler will be more practical and fuel-efficient, and the numbers favor the Bajaj Freedom 125. It has a 125cc engine, a 2L CNG fuel tank, and the longest seat, which can easily accommodate two people with their backpacks.

On the other hand, the TVS Jupiter CNG is not yet ready for sale, so it falls behind in terms of the practicality expected from a scooter. However, it is still the world's first CNG scooter, which makes it special.
